Chapter 108: Livestream

'Damn…… It will make the competition a lot tougher than I imagined……' That's what I thought while watching a livestream.

It all started when I was bored, very tired after training during some Valorwatch matches with my team. It's funny, because I was tired of playing Valorwatch, but to rest my mind, I wanted to watch a livestream of Valorwatch, since normally watching other people play made me more relaxed.

Unfortunately that was not what happened this time. Instead of finding a relaxing livestream from a streamer that I would like to follow, in fact, what I found was a new livestream with a high number of views.

It was an unknown streamer called [CapCarlos43], a very generic name by the way, which for me just demonstrated how new this guy was, but for some reason on his livestream there were 120 people watching simultaneously. This was not a small number, especially considering that he was a novice streamer where the competition is extremely fierce and any viewer already elevates you several positions above others. Seeing that, even though he was a novice, he was still getting a lot of people watching, left me curious.

Curiosity made me click on the livestream and start watching it. Unfortunately it was a decision that I deeply regret. I would have liked to have seen this when I wasn't taking a break from training, as I was now much more tense to train and probably would not be able to give 100% of myself if I were to start training right now.

That's because when I opened the livestream, what was happening on the screen was strangely monotonous. The streamer was apparently just walking carelessly, talking to their group, which to me, demonstrated their great immaturity.

When I went to look at the broadcast chat, the other people were apparently in anticipation of something; someone named Lucifer would be showing up at any moment.

Seeing this, I was a little curious, too. When I counted how many members were among the streamer, in fact there were only three more people, so it meant that one of their players had either died or was hidden. From the comments I assumed he was hiding.

But what would this player alone be able to do to compensate these newcomers so much that so many people have wanted to watch this match.

There was no need to wait long to find the answer, as just as I imagined, the other team ambushed the streamer's group and they started a fierce battle. But something I didn't expect to happen surprised me. The assassin in their group appeared, but he appeared only for a fraction of a second by an explosion of flames; he moved incredibly fast. Since he was coming out of the blast at a high speed, it was very difficult for the enemy team to deal with someone so problematic and unpredictable.

How…… how does he have so much spatial awareness to come out of nowhere and know exactly where to attack? It was as though, despite the high speed, he was teleporting from place to place. The time he needed to use to relocate was almost nil, as if he always knew exactly where he was regardless of where he was looking or attacking.

This assassin with red eyes and reddish-gray skin was moving like a ghost among the players on the other team. When he didn't kill someone instantly, he at least left a big cut in the person, or at very least made the person leave an opening where his team could take the opportunity to cause some injury. A great example of this was when the wizard who apparently dropped bombs was failing to hit anyone, with the help of the assassin's interference distracting enemies, he was able to finally hit two enemies at the same time.

When the killer appeared, the livestream chat started to go crazy. They were very excited, apparently comparing which death was quickest, which game he had been most efficient in, how he could improve to achieve maximum accuracy with minimal effort, and of course, making several clips of his eliminations to share with others.

And it seemed that all of this was working, since the livestream had already reached 153 people watching, and that number was steadily increasing. They were probably people like me, who were curious what this livestream was, who this newbie was, but who after watching a single battle had been completely hooked about this player.

Apparently that player was someone at the top of Rank D from what I identified in chat, which made me raise an eyebrow. His Blessing was very powerful, but it was not powerful enough to face me. The tournament was divided into two, the tournament for Rank F players to Rank D, and players from Rank C to Rank A.

Obviously the Rank F and Rank C players suffered the most, since they would be the bases of the two tournaments, but not that it affected me, since I had already passed that rank some time ago.

Maybe I will end up meeting this player named Lucifer someday, since according to what I saw in the chat, this boy had appeared only a few weeks ago, and he had already risen from Rank F to the top of Rank D, that is, maybe in a few months he will rise to my own ranking and we will meet on the field.

With a Blessing as problematic as the one he had, I'm sure it would be terrible to deal with, but maybe that's what I need: a formidable opponent to give me motivation.

Unfortunately, because of this boy I will have to increase my training routine, since I know that if I stay at the pace I'm currently making, I will practically be giving him a free opportunity.

Damn it…… and to think that being bored during my rest time would actually end up making me increase my working hours even more. I shouldn't have watched this livestream.

Looking at the viewer counter, I saw that in those 30 minutes that I was watching, the number of viewers had increased to 197. The viewership was growing at an alarming rate.

By the reaction of the public, there were some people with a very professional view of what was happening in the match, and I can attest that these people have not been not talking nonsense. But just as it can be a very good thing for the team streaming, since as a apparently new team they would have already won a name for themselves and wouldn't just be a bunch of strangers in the middle of several well-known names in the championship, this could also end up bringing bad things to them.

After all, from what I realized from their conversation, from the chat, and from their strategies in the matches, this Lucifer is apparently the team's greatest asset. I doubt that I am the only participant in the tournament who is watching this livestream, so whoever competes with them directly is also probably watching what they are doing, and probably even planning countermeasures to deal with these teleports.

I just hope that they are not putting all the cards they have on the table, as the championship hasn't even started yet.

Since I joined the livestream, the only thing I saw Lucifer doing was teleporting from place to place and using his dagger to cut enemies, bit if he has another card up his sleeve, it could mean a good placement for them in the championship.

Anyway, this is not my problem for now; I just hope we can meet one day…… Lucifer——
