Two hours ago, Mu Qing had told her that Jing Yichen would most probably wake up on the following day, because he was quite badly wounded this time. Due to lack of water and food as well as the exhaustion, he had used up all his energy and the recovery could be slow.

Unexpectedly though, he woke up much earlier.

Shangguan Ning was so overjoyed that tears trickled down her cheeks even faster.

Jing Yichen wiped her tears and pampered her in his usual spoiling tone. “Baby, don’t cry. I am fine. Don’t be scared. Come and snuggle into my arms.”
Trying not to touch his wounds, she laid down next to him on the blanket instead of getting close to him.

She truly wanted to hold him and lie in his arms. She had been frightened today and her heart was full of fear. But she suppressed those emotions at the bottom of her heart. She must not cry or behave weakly.

She still felt fear lingering inside her when she remembered today’s events. One careless move and she would have found herself into the trap too. But she had been focussed upon saving Jing Yichen and did not have much concern for the looming danger.

Now that Jing Yichen was awake, all she wanted to do was hold him and talk to him.

“But you are badly hurt. I don’t want to make your wounds worse by coming too close to you.”
A slight smile hovered over Jing Yichen’s pale face. “You are a cautious person, nothing will happen. Come closer, I really want to hug you. These are all small injuries, not important enough.”
Shangguan Ning hesitated for a minute, but then went inside the blanket and laid down next to him. She slipped her hands around his broad waist, carefully.

“I have no wounds on the waist, you can hold me tighter.”
Shangguan Ning did what he told her to.

Jing Yichen could feel his woman’s supple body and also how emotionally dependent she was on him. He could feel her trust and love for him and sensed that his heart had started to warm up.

Although the wounds were hurting right now, he did not care about them. He had his thoughts focussed totally upon the woman in his arms.

He lowered his head to kiss her exquisite face treating her like his precious most treasure.

Shangguan Ning’s heart was also assured now.

With Jing Yichen in her arms, she said between sobs, “You did not come home last night and I couldn’t get through your phone. I was so scared. I could not sleep the entire night and waited for you with Jing Rui in my arms. I knew that if you had been fine, you would have come home. So I called dad before the dawn broke and then went looking for you with him. Ruirui is still at the Jing Family. I haven’t seen or fed him the whole day. I am wondering how he is doing.”
Jing Yichen could imagine how anxious and scared Shangguan Ning must have been. He always came home on time, and even if he could not make it, he would definitely call her and tell her the reason.

They loved each other deeply and if Shangguan Ning did not come home one night and he lost touch with her, he would have lost his mind too.

He was already proud of her, because she waited until this moment to tell him about her ordeal. She had calmly met Tang Shunian and gone looking for him in the bloody cellar.

She was braver than he had imagined!

She loved him more than anyone!

Jing Yichen kissed her and looked at her in concern. “It is my fault to have frightened you. I will be more careful in the future.”
All through the day, she had forgotten about Jing Rui. Only now she remembered her child.

Jing Yichen patted her back and consoled her in a low voice, “Our son won’t starve. Old Lady will surely take care of him. She brought up Jing Yiran and she is definitely going to take care of her great grandson well enough! Grandpa is there as well. The Jing Family are well guarded and no one will be able to break in.”
Shangguan Ning nodded and replied with a small ‘yes’.

Every mother would care about her son, and Jing Rui was the darling of her heart.

But she could not go back to the Jing Family to take care of Jing Rui right now. She needed to make sure that Jing Yichen was fine, first. Only when Jing Yichen was well, would she and her son have someone to rely on and the family would stay complete and secure.

“Ning, what you did today is the only time you are allowed to do so. Next time, don’t take any risk for me. Tang Shunian is a sinister being and you are not going to be able to beat him. Stay away as far away as possible from him .”
Jing Yichen told his wife.

He thought that Shangguan Ning did not know much about Tang Shunian’s mental state and craziness. It had been a dangerous decision to interact with him.

What was more, Tang Shunian had had his eyes upon Shangguan Ning all this time. That had already breached Jing Yichen’s bottomline!

He was absolutely not going to allow anyone to even think about his wife!

“But don’t worry, I have discovered who he is and he won’t be able to hide any longer. Sooner or later, I will end his life!”
Jing Yichen’s tone had turned lethal.

He was not going to let Tang Shunian live for too long.

Tang Shunian had been at large for eleven years. It was time for him to die!

He must be hiding somewhere, and it was not realistic to find him within a couple of days. He was, after all, pretty good at hiding.

But after five more days of rest, he would start looking for him. Even if Tang Shunian was hidden somewhere very safely, he would still find him.

Jing Yichen did not know that Shangguan Ning already knew about having been clicked by Tang Shunian’s men. She may not know Tang Shunian well, but had already understood how crazy he was.

She hated Tang Shunian deeply, not because he was interested in her, but because he had hurt the man she loved.

Shangguan Ning did not get disturbed when she heard that Jing Yichen was going to look for Tang Shunian. He was a crazy dog who needed to be put down.

She had undergone a slight change in her outlook towards life after this experience. She was no longer uneasy or guilty towards the deaths of others.

Maybe it was because she had witnessed too many dead men today or maybe because she believed that Tang Shunian deserved to be in hell. Shangguan Ning’s personality had started to reflect a touch of coldness that resembled that of Jing Yichen’s.
