The freezing winter wind blew across the window. The temperature had been going down gradually. Despite being close to the sea, A City was getting dry, and cold.

There was not a single star seen in the sky on this silent and dark night. The moon had been hidden away under the thick clouds, leaving only a faint glowing circle behind.

It was exceptionally quiet in the villa as silent footsteps approached towards her room.

Being an assassin for years, Lu was extremely sensitive. Without any hesitation, she grasped the arm that reached for her. She tichetened her fingers and aimed straight for the man’s throat, all within the blink of an eye.

Less than one second later, this man would become one of the numerous people she had killed.

  “Lu, it is me!”

The scream ripped through the night, echoing over the quiet villa.

Lu’s fingers had moved too fast for her to withdraw, so she struck the man instead of killing him.

With a loud banging sound, the man flopped to the ground. The sound indicated that the man must have had a very painful fall.

Lu turned on the light and looked at the man lying on his all fours on the ground. She asked him calmly, “What are you doing with the knife?”

Jing Yiran almost choked when Lu struck him on the throat.

He suspected that his Adam’s apple had been smashed by Lu. She was unbelievably strong and one strike from her would surely kill him.

He coughed a little and regained his breath before trying to get up from the floor.

“It was a test! You are too cautious. I almost died. Ruthless woman!”

Jing Yiran gazed at Lu, trying to discern something from her.

Lu looked up and said coldly, “A test for what?”

Her special voice and the unique tone creeped people out. She sounded cold but in a baby-like voice.

It seemed as if she was thinking like an adult whilst having a body of a child.

Jing Yiran came close to Lu, lifted her chin and looked straight into her eyes as he said sinisterly, “A test to confirm my guess.”

“Then, was your guess correct?” Lu didn’t move. She allowed Jing Yiran to feel her lips with his fingers.

A smile hovered over Jing Yiran’s handsome face. He was a good-looking man who could sway both women and men. His smile could fascinate almost everyone.

Not surprisingly, Lu got a bit distracted.

The long amorous eyes, the straight and tall nose bridge, the sexy lips, the neatly trimmed short hair as well as the long eyelashes had made him a man created almost like a favor from God.

He behaved elegantly and didn’t look pretentious.

Tall and towering, he was muscular. Being half-naked at the moment exposed his sexy and bulging muscles.

Although Lu was used to seeing half dressed men, she was still a bit amazed by Jing Yiran’s body.

“I think my guess is right.”

Then Jing Yiran showed his usual smile and started to caress Lu’s exquisite eyebrows.

“I guessed that you have fallen for me!”

Jing Yiran spilled out such provocative words, but Lu didn’t even blink.

“It is okay, you don’t have to worry about anything. I am used to girls running after me. It would be weird if you do not fall for me!”

“Take medicine if you are sick, and don’t disturb me anymore.”

Lu snapped back, turned around and was about to leave.

But Jing Yiran pulled her towards him and pushed her against the wall. Trapping her in his arms, he lowered his head slowly.

“I knew I was right. You are suffering from personality dissociation and both versions of you like me. Of course, maybe now you like me for real whilst the other you, just treats me as a brother.”

“You do not need to remind me of being sick, thanks!”

To Jing Yiran’s surprise, Lu admitted the truth without any hesitation.

He had thought that she would try to hide the truth.

Excited, he said, “You trust me?”

Lu looked at him in astonishment. “Why would I trust you?”

“Then why did you tell me your most important secret?”

“Because either part of me would be capable enough to kill you within a second.”

Jing Yiran was annoyed. He got touched for nothing!

But it was the first time that he met anyone suffering from personality dissociation. He had never thought about it because it was, after all, a rare disease.

  “When do you switch yourself?”

“Boring!” Lu snapped seeing that Jing Yiran was excited beyond words.

Jing Yiran was not affected by her words. Instead, he continued with an excited expression. “I guess that the mature side of you pops out when you are in danger. If the environment is steady or cheerful, the silly kind will replace you, right?”

Despite being surprised by Jing Yiran’s capability of analyzing, Lu didn’t show any change of expression. She neither denied nor agreed with it.

But Jing Yiran felt that she had tacitly agreed with what he said.

He got even more excited as he started to talk. “I have done some research about why you would get this kind of condition. Many patients experience some tremendous trauma that they can’t live through. As a result, the mind suppresses one side of the personality in self-defense and displays another kind. What happened to you?”

For the first time in the night, Lu’s expression changed. She had not been affected even when Jing Yiran accused her of falling for him. But at this moment, she almost couldn’t hold her emotions back any more. She suddenly got so outraged that she wanted to break Jing Yiran’s neck!

  What had happened to her?

Well, she was a lethal killer. What could possibly have happened? She just killed, constantly, always.

As her emotions were getting out of control, Lu almost couldn’t resist her impulses any more. A certain familiar scene emerged, tormenting her fragile nerves.

  “Your hand is bleeding!”

At this moment, Jing Yiran suddenly held her palm in his own.

She said hoarsely, “I am fine.”

Jing Yiran took a look at her fingers and the blood stain on the blade, he said regretfully, “I have hurt you accidently.”
