Qian Meng was squashed to the side and gritting her teeth. "You could have just asked me to move away! Insufferable scoundrel."

She was about to get up when he grabbed her hand and pulled her down. She tumbled and jumped against his leg before squirming away and sitting on the arm of the couch.

He went back to the game as she read through the file.

"You don't have to claim her as yours, Mr. Mo," Bai Yu stated with an amused smile. Mo Qingchen's head snapped up and he almost glared at the man.

"I don't know what you are talking about," he stated bluntly.

"I am not here to ask her to take back my son. We decided to have each other in our lives and maybe do some business."

Mo Qingchen raised his brow and glanced at Yun Qian Meng who was blissfully ignoring the conversation.

  "I didn't ask," he retorted.

"Are you interested in Qian Meng?" he asked.

Now, Yun Qian Meng's ears perked up. She wanted to know how he would react.

Mo Qingchen thought about his response. People would find out soon enough, so he didn't mind telling everyone a little before the rumors and slander issue had been solved. Maybe it would show that even if Qian Meng was in adversary, he would stand tall behind her.

"Qian Meng is a mesmerizing woman. No wonder so many people are interested in her," he stated.

"Yes, I would have loved her to marry my older son, but…" he trailed off. "At least they could have been friends," he teased.

"He wasn't up to her standards. Moreover, Qian Meng and I are getting married." There was silence.

"I see," Bai Yu whispered. "Is this a hidden marriage?" he asked, curiosity coloring his voice.

"No. We haven't announced it yet."

"I wish you a great life ahead, then!" he said. He shook his head in disbelief. This Yun Qian Meng was really something else. He recognized that these two youngsters weren't in love, but they had a strong attraction that would, no doubt, entangle them romantically.

He couldn't see how they would not fall irrevocably in love with one another shortly.

"You are the only person who knows of this apart from the two of us. If news leaks before the issue with your son is resolved, I will know who it was," Mo Qingchen threatened.

  Bai Yu was taken aback.

"Check and mate," Mo Qingchen announced.

Qian Meng looked at him in disbelief and smacked his arm. "Why did you do that?" she hissed.

Bai Yu burst out into laughter. "I knew you were letting me win!" He didn't sound offended.

"I don't like to lose," Mo Qingchen said in a low and threatening voice. He looked at Bai Yu, his meaning clear.

He especially didn't like it if he was playing a hand on her behalf and lost. He wouldn't allow that. Ever.

"Good. A protective and affectionate partner is good for you, Yun Qian Meng," Bai Yu announced. "I wish the two of you a great life ahead." He moved his sleeve back and looked at his clock. "Thank you for the stimulating game. I need to go now," he announced finally.

Qian Meng stood up after him. "Already?" she asked following him to the door.

"Yes. Enjoy your time together. A little romance in the office is good for your soul," he stated with a smile. "Mr. Mo, I look forward to the wedding," he claimed. He extended his hand, which Mo Qingchen took.

The squeezed the gentleman's hand before letting it go. Bai Yu wasn't disturbed.

"No need to walk me out," he said slowly.

'Good thing. The girl was all alone. Now she has someone to rely on emotionally,' Bai Yu thought as he walked out.

"Why did you do that?" Qian Meng asked once Mr. Bai was out of earshot.

"I don't know what you are talking about," he replied nonchalantly. "Is there anything you wanted to speak to me about? The agreement, that is?" he asked.

Qian Meng thought for a moment, but she drew blank.

"I can't think of anything now. But I will let you know. I'll send it to Li Jun, my lawyer and he could come up with something I didn't think about. This should be done in a couple of days," she informed.

"Well, I'll get going then," he said finally.

"Are you feeling okay?" she asked when he was about to leave.

"I already told you that, didn't I?" he asked. "Why?"

"I have an appointment with my designer today because I needed to alter some clothes. Do you want to come along? I'll just tell her you are tagging along with me," Qian Meng's voice was almost a whisper.

"I am done with work for the day, so I can go with you." He blinked. "Oh! I just remembered. We should do comprehensive medical checks. Just in case," he added quickly, not wanting to offend her.

"Right. How did I forget that? We need a full-body checkup, don't we?" I thought about it.

"I'll get an appointment at a private hospital. The one where our family gets all procedures done is ideal. They'll keep everything under wraps," he commented.

"Oh, to know the dirty secrets of the Mo family," she joked.

Mo Qingchen flashed a small smile. "You'll be a Mo very soon. It's also going to be your secret to protect." His voice was deep, but his tone light.

Qian Meng jerked with surprise. She hadn't thought about that. Though her surname wouldn't change, she would indeed be part of another family. Suddenly the reality that she was not only getting married to Mo Qingchen but getting unequivocally entangled with his family pressed upon her.

I mean… how bad could they be?

Mo Qingchen was there if something was amiss.

"Book it," she said immediately, not lingering on the topic. "Why don't we go ahead and see if we can get the gossip train rolling?" she asked with a smirk.
