The news about Zhu Ziqian being apprehended by the police had reached the mainstream news. Zhang Jiren and Li Meili rushed to see Tang Moyu; both nervous and worried about her condition as Cheng Ning's abduction and Zhu Ziqian's demands for a switch had been known to the public.

Although Feng Tianyi assured them via phone call that his wife was physically okay, he still allowed them to come and see her, considering how unusually silent she had been since the confrontation they had with Zhu Ziqian.

Leyan was left with Zhang Jiren as Li Meili rushed to see her best friend upstairs. Even she was a little upset that Tang Moyu had chosen to put her life on the line just to catch Zhu Ziqian this time.

"She's different. I could tell that seeing Zhu Ziqian and confronting him herself has somewhat affected Moyu," Feng Tianyi told his brother-in-law.

"You should have told us, so we could help," Zhang Jiren replied, patting his stepdaughter's back as Leyan rested her small head on his c.h.e.s.t. "But I'm glad that you and Moyu Jie managed to get away unscathed."

Feng Tianyi allowed a smile to cross his lips as he looked at Zhang Jiren. There was such tenderness in his brother-in-law's eyes as he held Zhang Leyan.

"Fatherhood suits you well. Are you and Li Meili still planning to divorce a year from now?" he asked Zhang Jiren.

Zhang Jiren's hand froze midair and stared at his brother-in-law blankly. He hadn't expected that Feng Tianyi would ask him this.

"Everything will go according to plan," he replied and resumed what he was doing. It didn't matter whether he was being a good husband to Li Meili and a decent stepdad to Leyan, because there was no way Li Meili would choose to keep this farce of a marriage for too long.

"I see." Feng Tianyi's tone had a hint of disappointment in it. "I just want you to be happy. Whether you are with Li Meili or not, you also deserve to be happy."

Considering the things that happened to him and Tang Moyu, Feng Tianyi felt bad for Zhang Jiren for being alone for far too long. At least, his wife had managed to find a good friend in Li Meili, who accompanied her throughout her life. Even now that the two women were already married and had their own families, they still look after each other. But Zhang Jiren didn't have anyone with him.

"I understand." Zhang Jiren knew well what Feng Tianyi was talking about. He wasn't sure, though, if his feelings were too obvious for this devil to notice, or if his twin sister had told Feng Tianyi about his confession.

"I respect Li Meili's decision— although I have to admit I would greatly miss her company and spending time with Leyan like this."

Little Leyan continued to sleep peacefully in his arms, not caring if her mother wasn't around, or that they weren't at home. Unlike other babies, she wasn't a fuzzy one, and was content on being left in her cot.

"What will happen to Zhu Ziqian, then?" he asked, attempting to divert the issue away from him and Li Meili. He was aware that his time spent with Li Meili and Leyan was running too fast to his liking. If only he could slow down the time and keep them forever— a futile wish that he dared not utter to keep his emotions under control.

Of course, this wasn't lost to Feng Tianyi. Tang Moyu hadn't told him anything about her brother's relationship with Li Meili.? But as a man, how could he not notice how Zhang Jiren looked at Li Meili from a far with such longing in his eyes? It's the kind of longing and hoping she would spare him with just one look— an expression that was very familiar to Tianyi.

Hadn't he experienced the same thing when he started to grow accustomed to Tang Moyu's presence during the early months of his stay at Peach Blossom Garden? However, unlike him, Feng Tianyi knew that it would be hard for Zhang Jiren to make his feeling known to his wife, considering how heartbroken Li Meili was after Tang Beixuan's death.

Moreover, Feng Tianyi had already expected that this might happen when he first heard the contractual marriage between the two, but he didn't think that Zhang Jiren would be the first one to develop feelings for Li Meili in the first year of their marriage.

"He would spend the rest of his life behind bars. I would not allow him to die just what Moyu wanted. Allowing him to die wouldn't be sufficient as punishment for the crimes he committed," Feng Tianyi said.

"And I already asked He Lianchen to contact a few of our people. They will 'take good care' of him very well in prison." His eyes flashed with such malice that Zhang Jiren hadn't seen before.

His brother-in-law was so scary like this. No wonder Feng Tianyi had earned the title "Devil" in the past, because he wouldn't be satisfied with Zhu Ziqian simply serving time in jail. He'd make sure his life was a living hell.

"Sounds like the rest of his life behind the bars wouldn't be so nice for Zhu Ziqian," Zhang Jiren commented.

  "Indeed."

The rest of his life? Tianyi would make sure it would be long. If Zhu Ziqian considered the past seven years hadn't been good to him and considered it hell, then he's in for a surprise. He would regret crossing the line and hurting his family. Even if Moyu didn't want Tianyi to dirty his hands by taking Zhu Ziqian's life himself, it didn't mean he'd let things go. He'd use other methods to spite the man.

Just the thought of how Tang Moyu suffered emotionally and mentally after Tang Beixuan's death was enough to make his blood boil with so much anger. The empress who was known for her cold and calm persona was reduced into a crying mess at Tang Beixuan's funeral.

Even if his wife didn't tell him anything, Feng Tianyi knew that she hadn't truly gotten over her brother's death. Now that Zhu Ziqian was finally caught and would face the court to get his sentence, he hoped that it would lessen the burden in his wife's heart somehow.
