Was this a side of Feng Tianyi she was never aware of? Was he always like this? Tang Moyu felt like she was being deceived by her eyes. It was as if she was seeing a different person. That person doesn't seem like her husband at all.

"Miss Moyu, do you finally understand why Feng Tianyi was called the devil?" She heard Jia Yuntao ask. "It's because he acts like one when his patience snaps. He wouldn't stop no matter how much the other person begged for mercy. Well, unless he was satisfied."

Unlike Tang Moyu, this wasn't the first time Jia Yuntao had seen Feng Tianyi like this. In fact, when he'd seen the gentle and kind version of Feng Tianyi earlier, he also had a hard time believing that this was the same man who ruined him over a decade ago.

Seeing Feng Tianyi right now reminded him of the devil he knew from the past. As the man cried out from the neverending assault by the devil, Jia Yuntao could recall how ruthless Feng Tianyi could be.

Only the cries of the other man could be heard in the empty alley behind the shelter. Although some civilians could hear the commotion here, they wouldn't dare to get involved in street fights, in fear that they might come after them next.

Now being backed by their other two companions, the four bodyguards that accompanied the empress were able to fight back without holding back any longer. It didn't take long for the six men to subdue the gang that kept terrorizing the shelter for the past months.

The man who assaulted Tang Moyu earlier was now beyond recognition. Slumped on the ground, his mouth filled with blood and his left eye too swollen to see Feng Tianyi's face, he wondered what had just happened.

His face smeared with blood, his eyes darkening from being plummeted by heavy punches the devil threw on his face. This man didn't give him a chance to defend himself from his assault at all.

Feng Tianyi looked at him as if he couldn't get enough satisfaction from beating him as his fists kept raining with heavy blows on the man's face. His eyes were cold and frightening, the same devil that destroyed people's lives in the past.

Feng Tianyi had willingly unleashed the devil inside of him that had been inactive all these years. He thought that he could pretend this side of him didn't exist anymore, but his reign over his emotions snapped the moment he saw Tang Moyu in danger.

When Jia Yuntao came to them, panting hard for breath, informing them of the dangerous situation Tang Moyu was in, Feng Tianyi's heart jumped in his throat as fear rushed through him.

And when they rushed to the scene, they found his wife pinned on the wall, being strangled by her opponent, Feng Tianyi lost it. His logical awareness had been thrown to the wind, forgotten, as he picked up a wooden stick, directly hitting the bastard for daring to strangle his wife.

What was left was his intent to destroy the person who dared to lay a hand on Tang Moyu. While he was perfectly aware that Tang Moyu was able to protect herself, he feared that she would encounter an opponent that could overwhelm her.

How could he wait and stay still upon witnessing a scene that involved his wife's safety? If anything, Tang Moyu should be the one to teach these bastards a lesson. Alas, even the mighty empress makes mistakes once in a while.

If he hadn't arrived on time today, Feng Tianyi didn't dare to imagine what could have happened to his wife then. He had never felt this kind of rage for a long time and hadn't thought that he would lose himself in front of Tang Moyu.

"Pass me the baseball bat they brought with them." The devil asked one of their bodyguards as Tang Moyu remained shocked next to Jia Yuntao.

"Hold his hands." Feng Tianyi ordered. The bodyguards immediately obeyed. Two bodyguards held the man and forced him to stretch his hands for the devil to see them properly.

"These hands dared to touch my woman. Were you trying to kill her?" He asked.

"No… no…" The man had lost all the colors on his face when he sensed the dangerous aura emanating from Feng Tianyi. Who in the world was this man? How come they had never heard of Jia Yuntao being acquainted with such a dangerous person?

"Oh? You weren't?" Feng Tianyi used the tip of the baseball bat to force the man to lift his head and look at him in the eye.

Realizing what the devil was up to, Jia Yuntao pulled Tang Moyu's arm. He didn't think the empress would be able to accept what Feng Tianyi was about to do to the man.

"Miss Tang, I think we should go…" However, the empress was rooted in her place, her eyes locked on Feng Tianyi.

"I just wanted to spend some quality time with my wife. How dare you ruin our day?" Feng Tianyi's voice was dangerously low. "You dare to lay a hand on my wife? I think you made a grave mistake and you should pay for it."

"No, please." The man begged in despair. "We were wrong. We will never bother the shelter ever again. Please let us go."

Had they known that they would meet such a person today, they wouldn't have come here, looking for trouble. The man glanced at his companions and also saw the pitiful state they were in, which was no different from his.

He brought over a dozen men to intimidate the old man, but how did they end up being on the receiving end of the devil? He was merely trying to teach that arrogant woman a lesson and wasn't planning to kill her.

Why did this crazy man think otherwise?

"Let you go? That's impossible. You see, it doesn't sit well with me when I owe someone." Feng Tianyi said menacingly. His face alone was enough to instill fear in one's heart.

He walked closer until he was close enough to the hands that were forced to spread out on the ground. The man shivered and attempted to pull his arms away, but the two bodyguards next to him forbade him from doing so.

Feng Tianyi swung the baseball bat with his full strength, which was followed by a piercing scream coming from his victim. He swung a few more times until both of the man's hands were broken and he was writhing in pain on the ground.

"That should teach you a lesson not to assault a woman ever again. You are lucky I didn't break every inch of your bones." Feng Tianyi threw the baseball bat aside and accepted the clean hanky that one of his bodyguards passed to him.

He wiped the dirt and blood on his knuckles and turned around to leave, only to find Tang Moyu still there, watching his every move with wide eyes.

Tang Moyu, who finally recovered from her shock, straightened her back and waited for her husband's next move. So this was the kind of person he was six years ago? No wonder he had a bad reputation and was feared by people who knew him.
