Humans should never be selfish, for once they become so, they would feel guilty in the face of questions.

There was a reason Yun Xiangxiang didn’t want to go over the law on Faye’s case, and she also had her reasons for not wanting Song Mian to make enemies out of Faye’s family when she wasn’t harmed.

Chen Junjie’s report was nothing compared to Faye, as he was just a pawn used by Faye.

She backed off against the mastermind, but she held the accomplice accountable no matter what. This reeked of bullying.

He Shen wasn’t accusing her of bullying, but he wanted to ask her why she could back off from Faye for Song Mian.

But she couldn’t back off from Chen Junjie for Huan Yu.

She could consider this case even when it was just a personal relationship between Song Mian and her. Still, she wouldn’t even think for Huan Yu even when they had a working relationship, and they had a mutual interest to boot, so this was unfair to the company.

He Shen didn’t press her, and instead, he waited for Yun Xiangxiang’s answer quietly.

Yun Xiangxiang chuckled. “Mr. He, I backed off in Paris because I couldn’t take my revenge on them, and even if I did, I couldn’t take the consequences. But I can take my revenge on the Era of Stars, and I can take the consequences.”

So what if they called her a bully?

That was human nature. They would protect themselves against those they couldn’t fight against, not fighting a futile fight.

Being too hard-headed meant breaking easily, and that wasn’t Yun Xiangxiang’s style.

But giving in and acting like a coward against those she could destroy wasn’t something she could take either.

Nobody could blame her for being a bully. If they had to blame someone, they could blame Chen Junjie for offending her even when he didn’t have a strong backer like Faye did.

When she thought about it this way, Yun Xiangxiang could justify her bullying, and she smiled more relaxedly. “I know the Era of Stars must have given a lot of tempting offers to the company, and I can understand why you think so Mr. He, but I don’t want to give in to them.”

Yun Xiangxiang continued without waiting for He Shen’s answer. “I know the company will give me a lot of benefits if I back off this time, but I believe that with my skills, I can have those benefits in one or two years.”

She would eventually get it with her strength, so she wouldn’t suffer from having it a bit later.

He Shen went to Hong Kong to sign the contract with Yun Xiangxiang when he went to Hong Kong himself. From the time he saw how she handled things before she signed the contract and the clear mind she showed when she signed the contract, He Shen knew Yun Xiangxiang was an opinionated woman.

It was nigh impossible to change her mind. Even though He Wei lied to him and his father, they knew this was Yun Xiangxiang’s idea.

Even though He Wei was Yun Xiangxiang’s agent, he was also a part of the company. If Yun Xiangxiang were willing to back off, He Wei wouldn’t insist on this.

That was why he found out the crux of the problem by himself and tried to persuade Yun Xiangxiang, as this wasn’t just purely about benefits.

There were a lot of things that an actress like Yun Xiangxiang wouldn’t understand. No matter how strained a relationship was, they couldn’t just expose it in public.

If they made enemies out of their rivals, it would be more complicated to face the possible situations that might arise.

If Yun Xiangxiang made an enemy out of Chen Junjie, the Era of Stars would go against Huan Yu in every kind of competition.

They would not just be going against Yun Xiangxiang, but all the staff in Huan Yu.

Sensible staff members would despise the Era of Stars for dragging the innocent into this feud, but those with a myopic viewpoint would hate Yun Xiangxiang for dragging them in.

Yun Xiangxiang would have enemies within and without, so He Shen had to let her hear this analysis.

Yun Xiangxiang was grateful for He Shen to analyze it for her even when she was stubborn.

She kept quiet for a moment. “The court will be held the day after tomorrow. I’ll go home and think about it before giving you an answer tomorrow.”

He Shen didn’t force her, and instead, he nodded and sent her away himself.

It was almost half-past one when she got home, but everyone had not eaten yet. Yun Xiangxiang felt warm yet apologetic. “Sorry for having you guys wait. You guys must be hungry.”

Yun Zhibin looked like he was in a bad mood, and Yun Xiangxiang looked at Song Mian.

  She asked with a look.

Song Mian shook his head honestly. I don’t know either.

Song Mian didn’t know what went wrong. After Yun Xiangxiang had left, he was working in the kitchen, and he got the message from Yun Xiangxiang saying to save some for her since she was only coming back around one.

He wanted to save some for Yun Xiangxiang, but Su Xiuling asked him if he knew whether Yun Xiangxiang would come back at noon.

Song Mian told the truth, and Yun Xiangxiang’s parents decided to wait for Yun Xiangxiang.

When he realized that it would be a bit later when Yun Xiangxiang would come back, Song Mian made some snacks for her parents to fill their stomachs, but then Yun Zhibin looked like his mood turned for the worse.

Song Mian thought he made the snacks wrong this time, so he tasted it. It had no problems, so even the smart Song Mian couldn’t guess what his difficult father-in-law was thinking.

“The snacks are decent. You must be hungry, so have some to fill your stomach. The vegetable-based dish isn’t prepared yet, so you have to wait ten minutes or so for lunch.” Yun Zhibin pushed the snacks to Yun Xiangxiang.

Yun Xiangxiang looked at the soft snacks and understood why Yun Zhibin was angry.

Yun Xiangxiang brought home the snacks Song Mian made for her during Chinese New Year, and Yun Zhibin had a lot of it.

She did say she knew Song Mian last year, and that was when they started dating, but she didn’t say Song Mian had come to visit her during Chinese New Year.

She even rejected going out and visiting their relatives to spend time with Song Mian.

Yun Zhibin must have known the taste of having it during Chinese New Year. Yun Xiangxiang closed her eyes and smiled drily. “Have more if it’s nice, dad.”

Su Xiuling didn’t have the Chinese New Year cake, but Yun Xiangxiang did tell her Song Mian came to visit her during the Chinese New Year.

She knew that visit must have been exposed, so she took her daughter. “Help me set the table.”

Song Mian went to the kitchen quietly and cooked, and Yun Xiangxiang quickly tried to please her father when they had lunch. “This one’s nice, dad.”

“You know it’s nice even before you have it?” So you ate this a lot, which meant you spent a lot of time with this brat.

Yun Xiangxiang was embarrassed. Since she would make more mistakes if she spoke further, she had her lunch quietly.

“It smells nice, so of course, it tastes nice.” Su Xiuling had to stand on her daughter’s side.

Yun Zhibin shut up and had his lunch when he faced his wife.

“Delicious,” Yun Ting praised cutely after having two bites.

“It’s nice, right? This is made for you.” Yun Xiangxiang took this chance to break the awkward ice.

Song Mian was a detailed man. He considered everyone’s tastes, and he even made something suitable for toddlers.

With Yun Ting and Su Xiuling protecting them, Yun Zhibin stopped attacking them, and the atmosphere was finally not that awkward anymore.

Song Meng and Li Xiangling were downstairs. Since Wang Yong made their lunch, they didn’t come up here to disturb Yun Xiangxiang and her family.
