“Something smells nice!” The aroma wafted in from outside. Yun Xiangxiang immediately cut off Song Meng’s incessant chattering.

The aroma was intensely strong. Song Meng immediately stared at that direction longingly. They discovered that it was actually a roasted duck when the dish was served!

“The roasted duck here tastes absolutely magnificent. I hope you girls will like it,” said Song Mian smilingly.

“This smells even better than that roasted duck in Beijing which the both of us managed to buy after standing in line for a long time!” Song Meng looked at the golden hue and the puffed-up skin of the roasted duck. Her gaze of hunger was obvious.

A professional stepped forward and cut the duck into four portions and placed each in their plates. There were sauces, side dishes, and dumpling skins sitting at one side.

Song Mian put on his gloves. He picked the best meat before rolling it into the dumpling skin and putting it in Yun Xiangxiang’s bowl.

Yun Xiangxiang put on her gloves and took a bite from the one she picked up. The smoky skin and the fresh tender meat entered her mouth along with the sauces. It was delectable.

She had also tasted the longtime famous dish: Peking Roasted Duck. It tasted decent, but it was incomparable to this.

It was too tasty. Song Meng and Li Xiangling didn’t keep maintaining their facade when they saw Yun Xiangxiang throwing away her image.

However, Yun Xiangxiang didn’t need to wrap the meat herself. She only needed to eat. They had to wrap it themselves.

It was at this moment that both of them deeply understood the sadness of being singles.

Another readily roasted duck was served after they finished the first one. They didn’t even need to open their mouths.

Song Mian basically didn’t have much. Except for the couple that Yun Xiangxiang wrapped for him, everything else went into the trio’s bellies.

They had six whole roasted ducks and still found themselves wanting for more. The ducks didn’t feel oily at all. It was as if all the fat on the ducks disappeared when they were roasted.

They could actually have more, but they were embarrassed to request it.

There were no roasted ducks being served next. A bowl of duck soup was served instead. It was fresh and sweet. Every one of them had two big bowls of it.

Scrumptious snacks and fruits were served in the end. They had a fulfilling dinner.

Li Xiangling was observing Song Mian’s actions over the whole process. She could see the great polish that Song Mian had. He must have been an elite descendant delicately trained by a big family.

She worried for Yun Xiangxiang in the beginning. She only relaxed after she saw Song Mian being concerned about her all the time and prioritized her in his every move.

However, Li Xiangling still came to find Yun Xiangxiang before they went to sleep. “Have you seen his friends already?”

Yun Xiangxiang shook her head, “I have not. It’s hard to get his friends together in one place. He will ask them out when they can be invited.”

“What’s his job?” Li Xiangling continued asking.

“A doctor. He can do both Western and Chinese medicine,” Yun Xiangxiang answered.

“How did you guys meet each other?” Li Xiangling kept on asking.

Yun Xiangxiang who didn’t really mind suddenly raised her head, “Are you trying to investigate his background?”

“I’m worried about you. He is obviously a peculiar person. I’m worried that you might get hurt,” Li Xiangling looked at Yun Xiangxiang worriedly.

Yun Xiangxiang got up and wrapped her arm around Li Xiangling’s neck while leaning on her shoulder, “Okay, Xiangling. I know that you’re doing this for my own good. I may have never seen his friends, but I have seen his dad. His dad is especially nice to me.”

“The ambergris that you bought last time was for his dad?” Li Xiangling reacted.

“Yes, he indeed comes from a powerful family. His family is more powerful than the most powerful family that you can imagine. However, his family is simple. There’s only him and his dad. Every relative aside from that is distantly related. There’s no dirty drama about any war for inheritance that you’re thinking about.”

“Since you have said that, then naturally I will choose to trust you.”

Li Xiangling grabbed Yun Xiangxiang’s hand, “I can see that he’s loyal and serious through how he looks at you. But I still hope that you know your limits and not let yourself get hurt.”

“I know, I know. Go to bed, quick. I’ll have to start work tomorrow.” Yun Xiangxiang urged Li Xiangling.

Li Xiangling only stood up and took a glance at her before she turned around and left.

Yun Xiangxiang lay on her bed. Her heart felt warm and fuzzy. Li Xiangling didn’t think that she should grab Song Mian tightly just because he was great in every aspect.

She also didn’t think that she wasn’t fit to be Song Mian’s partner. She instead put herself in her shoes and gave her reminders that stopped at just the right point. This was pure concern that came from her girlfriend.

Huan Yu Century Entertainment’s New Year’s celebration was a crucial ceremony. Not only the company’s staff were there, but they also invited a lot of media.

There were also actors who used to collaborate with them or incredibly influential actors being there. It was a grand event.

The actors and actresses’ attire’s brilliance during that night’s banquet wouldn’t lose out to any red carpet procession in any major film festivals.

It was just after lunchtime, and Coco was already urging Yun Xiangxiang to go for skin care and dressing up.

“Who prepared the gifts?” Yun Xiangxiang asked after she finished her skincare routine and saw the nightgown that was hanging.

“Sister Song Qian brought it,” Coco replied. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing. Take it for me.” She knew that it was Song Mian who prepared it for her with a glance.

This was an elegantly simple nightgown, yet it retained the quality of a sweet lady.

It was an off the shoulder dress with slings. It had ruffled frills and half puff sleeves.

It had a classical Chinese style girdle. The fully black thread painted a pattern of auspicious clouds. It looked classy and elegant.

The straight hemline extended to her knees. It was simple and clean and had that slight air of professionalism.

She could become the center of attention when the nightgown was paired with a pair of ivory stilettos.

Her hair was still tied up in a bun. However, she had some strands of permed hair hanging naturally on both of her hair’s sides.

Her fair skin was complemented by the black pearl’s accessories so much, it was gleaming.

He Wei couldn’t help but marvel when he picked her up, “Extremely gorgeous.”

Xue Yu was stretching his neck in anticipation of the live venue. He immediately dimissed the people who were talking to him when he saw his junior.

“My junior is prettier than anyone else. I have to keep an eye out for her later.”

“Senior, you also look better than anyone else,” Yun Xiangxiang had to praise Xue Yu for being handsome.

A dark blue tuxedo that was well-cut to suit him. A pair of brown leather shoes. He simply kept his shirt’s collar open and didn’t wear a necktie.

It made him look formal and noble, yet he didn’t lose that laid back quality.

“Both of us have to be the focus of the whole thing so that Brother Wei can be proud,” Xue Yu grinned with glee. “Oh right, why don’t you be the female protagonist for the MV of a song in my new album?”

“Riding on your junior’s coattails again,” said He Wei coldly.

“This is called not letting anyone else take advantage of our assets,” Xue Yu corrected. He then said to Yun Xiangxiang, “It’s a song with the theme of mythical heroes.”

“Won’t that mean that I have to wear the ancient era’s attire?” Yun Xiangxiang’s ancient era film was still under wraps. “The King’s Plan” had not aired yet.

“Yeah, your fans are waiting to see you in ancient attire every day. This can help your senior boost some sales,” said Xue Yu grinningly.

Yun Xiangxiang looked at He Wei. She nodded when she saw He Wei not stopping it, “I will do it if I have time.”

He said that it would help increase his sales. However, there was a chasm between the number of her fans and the number of Xue Yu’s fans. Xue Yu didn’t need to worry about the sales of his album.

This was typical for Xue Yu trying to take care of her. It wasn’t him trying to get her fans to buy his album for Yun Xiangxiang’s maiden appearance in ancient attire. It was to let more people see her in ancient attire.
