  “Haaaa!”


  Pei Ge opened her eyes to a room filled with sunlight. The warm air circulating in her room made her feel good.

  It was the best sleep she had had recently.

  After she cleaned up and had breakfast with her mother, she left the house with her bag in hand.

  When she arrived downstairs, instead of Du Wen’s car, what greeted her was a different Rolls-Royce.

  “Weird……” she mumbled.

  As she was wondering about this, the door of the Rolls-Royce parked before her building opened, and a man in a black suit stepped out of it.

  This was insufficient to catch her attention, though, and she began to consider whether to commute or wait for Du Wen, who seemed to be running late.

  “Miss Pei.”


  She just made up her mind to commute when she heard someone call out to her.

  Turning in the direction of the caller, she saw a man in a black suit with an average height before her.

  “You are……” she asked, confused.

  “Miss Pei, I’m Li Qi – your new chauffeur. You can call me Xiao Li or Xiao Qi.” He smiled at her politely. Maybe it was because of his young age and inexperience that the gaze he regarded her with was tinted with curiosity.

  She widened her eyes at him and then pointed at herself in aghast. “What do you mean by my ‘new chauffeur’?”


  “Er…… Miss Pei, haven’t you been informed about this?” he asked, confounded by her big reaction.

  “Yes, I haven’t; I’m sorry. Where is Du Wen, by the way?” She was utterly confused on what was going on.

  “Oh! Brother Du is busy with another stuff, so I’ll be bringing you to Bauhinia Court from now on!” He gave her an extremely bright smile.

  “.…… Oh, I see.” His explanation made everything clear to her.

  “Miss Pei, let’s get moving. It’s almost time for your first lesson.” Noting that she was starting to zone out, he decided to remind her of this.

  “Ah!” She gasped and then bobbed her head vigorously. “Yes, yes, yes! Let’s quickly get going!”


  The two, thus, quickly got into the car. With one hurrying the driver and another being hurried to drive faster, they quickly arrived at Bauhinia Court at top speed.

  The moment the car came to a halt, she hopped out of it and sprinted into the villa.

  However, when she was near enough to the villa, she saw that its door was tightly shut.

  “Weird. This door is usually open at this time.” She mumbled this as she keyed in the code to open the sturdy door.

  She only got more confused as she stepped inside the villa.

  “Weird. Why is it so quiet today……”


  On her way to the etiquette room on the second floor, her heart skipped a beat at the recollection of something.

  “Ahhh!”

  She suddenly did not know whether to laugh or cry. The feeling she had right now was akin to…… a primary-school student hurrying to class for fear of being late, only to realize that it was the weekend!

  “Still…… What exactly is up with that Li Qi who came to fetch me? Doesn’t he know that I don’t have to take lessons today?” She blinked in confusion.

  In the end, after she phoned Du Wen and inquired about it, she found out that Li Qi, that lad, had also made a mistake!

  “No need. It’s understandable since it’s his first day of work. Assistant Du, don’t fire him please. I won’t take your car anymore if I don’t see him tomorrow,” she quickly warned, worried that Li Qi would be fired moments after taking his first step into society.

  “Yes, I will listen to your orders,” he smilingly affirmed, “but I think Miss Pei wasn’t informed. I’m afraid it’s not possible to take my car from here on even if you want to.”


  “Huh?” She blinked with bafflement. “What do you mean?”


  “From here on, Li Qi will be your exclusive driver to and from Bauhinia Court every day,” he informed wryly.

  “.…… Why is there a need to change to someone else?” she asked. She thought that another person was sent over to fetch her only because this assistant was busy today.

  “That’s because my work in the office has already piled up. All right, Miss Pei, our conversation will have to end here. Take that boy’s car if you want to return home. He is already making a U-turn right at this moment.”


  “All right, then. Have a nice day, Assistant Du.”


  Perplexity still lingered on her face even after she had dropped the call.
