Hao Meng hugged his phone and felt so light that he was about to fly.

The last message that “First-Year New Student” had sent:

The last four digits of this phone number happened to be his birthday. This damned fate. Hao Meng put his head on the table and laughed, his shoulders shaking until Lin Jiang couldn’t stand the sight.

“Do you have to go to that extent?” Lin Jiang laughed at him.

Hao Meng wanted to say, of course. It was like fireworks going off in his heart and it felt so wonderful and sweet to be invited by someone he liked.

Stowing away his sprouting heart, he carefully replied to “First-Year New Student”:

He didn’t dare to go alone again, afraid that he would run into something bad.

Hao Meng put away his phone after replying. After all, the other boy had sent those messages a month ago and he didn’t know if they still counted now.

His phone sounded with a notification very quickly. Hao Meng’s heart sped up and he tapped open the private message. It really was from “First-Year New Student”:

There was a subject cleverly added on behind and the two of them started chatting enthusiastically.

Subconsciously, Lin Jiang looked over at Gu Ming Ren. His seat was facing the window where the cold wind was blowing in, causing the pages of his book to flap and his hair to rise and fall.

Lin Jiang frowned and grumbled to himself. It wasn’t like there weren’t other seats. Why did he have to choose such a cold one?

  That was really stupid.

He couldn’t help cursing and withdrew his gaze. Out of sight, out of mind.

After the lesson, the number of students in the class had lessened gradually. Hao Meng should have rushed to the canteen to eat immediately but instead, he was staring at his phone and smiling like an idiot, probably because he had one foot inside the pit of love.

Lin Jiang tutted twice and turned his head to look at Gu Ming Ren. Seeing that he had not yet woken up, Lin Jiang hesitated, then walked over wanting to close the window. In the end, the moment his hand touched the edge of the window, Gu Ming Ren woke up. As soon as his eyes opened, he saw Lin Jiang and smiled.

Lin Jiang had been caught in the act. He was flustered and forced himself to calm down. Suddenly, he had an idea and after closing the window, he gave Hao Meng a tongue-lashing, “You’re so unreasonable. Is it that cold?! And you had to insist that I close the window for you.”

Hao Meng lifted his head, confused. “Huh?”

To avoid revealing the truth, Lin Jiang quickly dragged him away. “Huh what?! Don’t you need to eat?!” Hao Meng’s eyes brightened. “Oh, eat. First-Year said that he’ll treat me to a meal. Can you go with me?”

Lin Jiang thought to himself, I’m not going to be the third wheel. He caught sight of Gu Ming Ren catching up to him and his mouth automatically agreed, “Okay, let’s go.”

Hao Meng was delighted and about to rush off to the appointment when Gu Ming Ren stopped him. “Is it convenient to take me with you?”

It was rare that he had no classes in the afternoon and he wanted to stay with Lin Jiang. That handsome face had an expression of sincere request on it and was something that no human could bear to reject. Apparently, Lin Jiang wasn’t human and he said immediately, “It’s not convenient.” Hao Meng looked at him strangely. “Why isn’t it convenient? Four people make two pairs!”

Lin Jiang’s face darkened and he wanted to kill him with a hammer.

He whispered in Hao Meng’s ear, “Aren’t you afraid that First-Year will be interested in Gu Ming Ren?”

Hao Meng knew what he meant and laughed slyly. “I’m more afraid that First-Year will be interested in you, so bringing school grass Gu along will be just right!”

What a joke. What could be the result of two number ones? He was most afraid that First-Year would be interested in Lin Jiang. That really wasn’t worth the loss. Now with Gu Ming Ren, it was perfect.

Lin Jiang had nothing to say and shut his mouth.

Gu Ming Ren walked beside him. Lin Jiang was a little uneasy and tried his best to avoid touching the other boy.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Hao Meng recognised First-Year in a glance. He walked over nervously with stars in his eyes.

First-Year was still wearing his school uniform and looked like a high school student. He looked like he was about 180cm in height and actually quite tall, but compared to Hao Meng, it wasn’t enough.

The two of them greeted each other. Although First-Year had already psychologically prepared himself beforehand, he still felt pressured when seeing how tall the other boy was in person.

“Lin Che?!” Lin Jiang called out tentatively when he found him familiar the more he looked at him.

Lin Che looked at him blankly, then recognised him. “Tang Ge?!”

Life was full of surprises. Lin Jiang pressed against the table and questioned him, “Why are you here?! No, how did you get to City A?” This First-Year happened to be from the family that was doing well in the north and was his father’s brother’s son, in other words, his Tang Di.

Lin Che said, “It’s because of you. After Uncle and Auntie ran away, my father was worried that nobody was looking after you and our whole family moved to City A. In the end, you changed your phone number and unexpectedly, we couldn’t find you.”

  So that was what happened.

Lin Jiang was pleasantly surprised and wanted to have a deeper conversation with his Tang Di but he didn’t expect his Tang Di to forget about him once he had a wife. Seeing Hao Meng’s miserable expression, Lin Che took out his phone and quickly resolved the matter by saying, “Leave me your number. I’ll contact you later.”

He couldn’t make it too obvious that he was trying to brush him off.

Gu Ming Ren frowned at him. Lin Che noticed the hostile gaze and said to Lin Jiang, “Tang Ge, is this your partner?” Lin Jiang was about to say no when Gu Ming Ren quickly took his hand and held it tightly. “Yes.” Lin Che’s eyebrows arched. “Oh, no wonder we couldn’t find you.”
