Chapter 119: Gene Core, Arcana Field
writer:The Little Panda      update:2022-07-12 13:52
“Today marks the seventh week of the training camp, and I broke through Level 5 during the first week itself.”

“After taking the Superior Gene Arcana Strengthening Liquid, and training in the first level of Underground Room 12, I can feel that I’m not too far away from Level 6!”

“I hope I can reach it today and smoothly become a Level 6 Arcanist!”

Ling Jiu first drank the Superior Life-enhancing Liquid and the Superior Gene Arcana Strengthening Liquid. Then, he finally activated the “Devouring the Stars” technique and started devouring Gene Arcana.

  Buzz……

The surging Gene Arcana formed a giant vortex in the sky as it drew in all the surrounding Gene Arcana in a frenzy.

Every second, a large amount of Gene Arcana was absorbed into Ling Jiu’s body. They were divided by his cells first before being stored in his veins and meridians.

Several moments later, his veins and meridians were completely filled with Gene Arcana. Then, just like how a full bottle could no longer be filled with water, once his veins and meridians were loaded, he was unable to absorb any more Gene Arcana.

Ling Jiu knew that it was because his body had already reached its limit. To break this cumbersome roadblock, he could take two general paths before him.

Firstly, he could consume the Gene Arcana that had accumulated. It would be like pouring out the contents of a full bottle, so the emptied bottle could naturally be filled again.

That was also the reason for the real combat. He would absorb the Gene Arcana for the first three days, and consume them in the following days during combat on the field.

  Absorb and consume.

  Absorb and consume.

In this constant cycle, his body would grow stronger exponentially, and his capacity to carry Gene Arcana would become increasingly larger as well.

Secondly, he could compress his Gene Arcana and condense them into solids.

It was a well-known fact that for substances of the same mass, liquids would have a lower density than solids.

Therefore, when a liquid became solid, its volume would become smaller (unless it was water).

Gene Arcana was the same. As long as he could compress them into solids, his body would be able to carry more Gene Arcana.

The process of compressing Gene Arcana into solids was called solidification, and solidified Gene Arcana were called Gene Arcana Cores.

Gene Arcana Cores were also the mark of being a Level 6 Arcanist!

  “Compression!

  “The key is compression!”

  \r \r \r

Ling Jiu tried to compress the Gene Arcana inside his body, but no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to solidify them.

After half a day of achieving no results at all, Ling Jiu took out his microcomputer and visited the forum to read up on related experiences.

The forum was mostly filled with bullsh*t, but there were also many good informative posts with numerous training experiences. They were from various levels, and Ling Jiu browsed through them one by one.

  “General Outline for Solidification?

“Long term updates: A record of my life from a newbie to a Level 6 Arcanist!

“I’ve been stuck on Level 5 for 19 years!

“My Path of Leveling Up – A Leveling Up Record of a Village Youth!

“The Late Night Records of My Efforts to Reach Level 6!” ……

After browsing around, Ling Jiu finally had some ideas. Each Arcanist’s journey to Level 6 seemed quite different in approach but were in essence the same.

One needed to compress a small amount of Gene Arcana, solidify them, and then consume them in part……

  Compress a small amount first……

  A small amount……

Ling Jiu slapped his forehead and felt upset at himself. “I was just so stupid earlier. I actually wanted to compress all of the Gene Arcana in my veins and meridians into solids!

  “Silly me!”

Ling Jiu admitted to himself that he had screwed up. He later found a small portion of Gene Arcana in his meridians and began to compress them.

With less to work with, his progress went smoothly. Soon after, the Gene Arcana were compressed into a little sesame-sized Gene Arcana Core!

“This is my very first Gene Arcana Core, or perhaps a Gene Arcana Core prototype? While it’s small, the energy it contains is quite amazing!” Ling Jiu muttered to himself and started to compress more Gene Arcana.

As he continued compressing, the Gene Arcana Core expanded slowly, very slowly. Nevertheless, it was expanding.

After some time, all of the Gene Arcana in his meridians were depleted. Meanwhile, the Gene Arcana Core had transformed from the size of a sesame seed to the size of a cherry.

It was now as big as a cherry, but that was still very small.

In fact, it looked rather insignificant.

Miraculously, Ling Jiu could clearly sense a difference in his surroundings at that very moment.

He felt as if he was one with heaven and earth, and he could see the tiniest speck of dust, as well as the oxygen molecules, in the air……

If he wanted to, he could even separate oxygen and nitrogen.

“Is this the Arcana Field?” Ling Jiu muttered to himself.

The Arcana Field was another mark of a Level 6 Arcanist, and some thought that the Arcana Field was an ability that came with the Gene Arcana Core.

No matter how it came about, a Level 6 Arcanist would have an Arcana Field.

Level 6 Arcanists could control everything within their Arcana Fields……

The air, the earth, the soil, the dust, the magnetic field, the gravity……

  Everything was under his control.

That was why Arcanists below Level 6 were no match at all against a Level 6 Arcanist.

  You can manipulate special flames?

Oh, I’m sorry, once your flames are inside my Arcana Field, they will be under my control and won’t be able to hit me at all.

  You have other Arcanas?

  They would be equally useless!

Therefore, against a lower level Arcanist, a Level 6 Arcanist had absolute overwhelming strength. Cross-level combat was essentially not applicable from Level 6 onwards.

Of course, while an Arcana Field was very powerful, it was only good against a lower-level Arcanist.

To a high-level Arcanist, the Arcana Field of a Level 6 Arcanist was at best just a prototype. Hence, it was fragile and could be easily broken.

Moreover, Level 6 Arcanists did not have strong control over the Arcana Field. Plus, the ability to “command everything” was nothing more than an exaggeration.

“Even so, the Arcana Field is overpowered enough!”

Ling Jiu let out a long sigh. Based on the statements of those folks on the forum, a Level 6 Arcanist’s attack would be greatly enhanced in the field.

In contrast, the foe’s offense would be greatly diminished or even wiped out.

Take a Fire Arcanist for example, inside his Arcana Field, his Flame Arcana’s strength would greatly increase, be it the temperature of the flame or the speed of attack.

Its burning speed would just not be the same.

“The Arcana Field can pretty much be considered a massive buff, which infinitely strengthens the Arcanist’s Arcana and simultaneously weakens others!

“Let me try this out!” Ling Jiu whispered and closed his eyes to feel it.

  “Gravity!

“My control of gravity is more agile now, and it’s just like moving my fingers!

  “The Five Elements!

  “Blink!”

After some simple attempts, Ling Jiu opened his eyes with delight. “My Arcana Field…… seems to be quite strong!”

Chapter 120: Alliance of Five, Blue-eyed Azure Scaled Dragon

The forum bigwigs had a lot to say about Arcana Field, but there was one thing all of them repeatedly stressed: a Level 6 Arcanist’s Arcana Field was very rudimentary and especially fragile. Plus, its control power was not that strong.

Its real function was not to allow an Arcanist to control everything within the field but to buff up the Arcana.

The Arcana Field would allow one’s Arcana to get more powerful, faster, higher temperature, and made it easier to use!

A rough calculation showed that an Arcana Field could increase the power of one’s Arcana by five times……

  A whole five times stronger!

So in this case, the more Arcana one has, the more advantages one gets.

“I have so many Arcana with me, and with the Arcana Field buffs, how strong can I get?”

Ling Jiu could not wait to try out his Arcana Field, however as he was still training in Underground Room 12, and there were no suitable test subject.

“Let’s try it once I’m out!”

Ling Jiu suppressed the urge to test his Arcana Field, and instead continued to study his own Arcana.

According to experience given by his seniors, after becoming a Level 6 Arcanist, his Arcana would gain new abilities.

For example, for those Earth-type Arcanists:

A vast majority of Earth-type Arcanist will be able to gain the Gravity Arcana, and get the ability to control gravity, while a few will gain the ability to control magnetic fields.

  For a Water-type Arcanist:

Most with be able to gain Ice-type Arcanas, and the ability to control ice, while a few will gain the ability to control fluids.

For example, a Gravity-type Arcanists will be able to gain Gravitational Arcana.

“Let me test out my Arcanas!”

Ling Jiu experimented one by one.

  “Earth Manipulation Arcana!”

  After a while……

Ling Jiu opened ihs eyes. “Aside from controlling the earth more freely, and with more variations, and in a greater range, there’s no new ability gained?”

“Or is it because the gravity arcana is usually derived from it, and I already have that, so they stacked together?”

  Ling Jiu continued to experiment.

  “Metal Manipulation Arcana!”

  “No new abilities gained either!”

  “Fire Manipulation Arcana!”

  “Damn! Nothing here too?”

  “Water Manipulation Arcana!”

  “F*ck! Still nothing!”

After a series of experimentations, Ling Jiu despaired. Be it the Five Elements, Blink, Tungsten Form, or Shadowform, none of them had gained new abilities!

They were the same as before, aside from being more powerful, having a wider range, and was easier to use, there was no changes in essential. What derivative abilities?

The hell was that even about?

“For other Arcanists, as long as their Arcana isn’t too shitty, they would normally gain new abilities after breaking through to level 6!”

Ling Jiu had the urge to curse. “Why then I have so many abilities but did not gainy any at all? What’s the meaning of this?”

“Is it because these are replicated Arcanas, so there’s no deriviation from them?”

  “So on and so forth!”

  \r \r \r

  “Let’s try the Replication Arcana!”

Ling Jiu’s eyes lit up. “The Replication Arcana is my original Arcana. So the Replication Arcana is mostlikely to be able to gain a new deriative ability.

Ling Jiu immediately tested his Replication Arcana, and found that the Replication Arcana also did not had any deriative abilities.

  “Blood hell!”

  “This is straight up bullying!”

“Is it because my Arcana is just too overpowered that even God is jealous, so that’s why there’s no deriative abilities?”

Ling Jiuchao raised flipped his middle finger at the heavens, and an urge to throw more expletives at it.

However, being pissed was all fine and dandy, there was really nothing he could do about it.

Ling Jiu seized the remaining time and absorb the Gene Arcana around him.

As his Gene Arcana core had only just taken shape, it was still very small. So he needed to absorb as much Gene Arcana as possible to let it grow.

At this moment, the power of an Ultimate Gene Arcana Secret Technique was manifested as it swept in a large number of Gene Arcana, causing the core to growing rapidly.

  Ring ring!

After absorbing for who knows how long, a piercing bell rang. “Three days has passed, all trainees please leave the training room immediately.”

  “So soon already?”

Ling Jiu still had some ideas. After absorption all this while, his Gene Arcana Core had successfully expanded from the size of a cherry to the size of a peanut.

It may not look that different, but god knows how much Gene Arcana it had absorbed?

After leaving Underground Room 12, Ling Jiu returned to the dormitory. To his surprise, Shi Gang was not practicing today, and seemed to be waiting for him?

  “You’re back!”

Shi Gang looked over, saying. “Ling Jiu, I have something to tell you!”

  “What’s the matter, sounds serious?”

  Ling Jiu raised his eyebrows.

“I got news that Christopher, Hirano Hatake, Christopher, Edna and Janet have formed an alliance and is taking aim at you!”

  Shi Gang’s face was serious.

“Taking aim at me? Just them?”

Ling Jiu laughed. “Let them then. What’s there to be afraid of? Looking at your face, I thought something earth-shattering was about to happen!”

“Ling Jiu, you’ve not realized the seriousness of the matter!”

Shi Gang growled. “Their alliance this time is not just any simple alliance, but its an attack on your number one spot. You know what they plan to do?”

  “What they plan to do?”

“The five of them will hunt Direbeasts and then credit all of the results on one single person. Surely you can imagine what would happen if they did this?”

  Shi Gang said solemnly.

“If they really did that, it will indeed bring me some challenge. However, they are still far from able to challenge my number one spot!”

Ling Jiu laughed as he shook his head.

“Ling Jiu, you are overconfident there!”

Shi Gang sighed. “All of them are top nine trainees, and their scores had been stable above 1.5 million in recent weeks.”

“Even with simple addition, their total score will exceed 7.5 million. There is a real possibility for them to take first place from you!”

“Before today, they may have a glimmer of hope, but after today, they don’t even stand a slightest chance!” Ling Jiu smiled and shook his head.

  “You’re that confident?”

“This is not mere confidence, but strength!”

Early next morning, when Ling Jiu was about to head out, Ai Yuhe and Yang Ling’er came looking for him.

“You guys are up early today!” Ling Jiu said with a smile.

“Brother, I’ve discussed with Sister He, we won’t be teaming up with you this week!”

Yang Ling’er went straight to the point. “We’ve decided to hunt Direbeasts ourselves!”

“It is because of those five?”

  Ling Jiu raised his eyebrows.

“No, nothing to do with them. We want to kill the Direbeasts using our own efforts, and then train our combat strength!” Yang Ling’er immediately shook her head.

“Right! We don’t want to rely on you, nor do we want others to talk crap about us!” Ai Yuhe also followed suit.

“You two don’t even know how to lie. Just say it if you don’t want to trouble me!”

Ling Jiu smiled and shook his head, and then said. “Right! I know what to do, don’t worry, I won’t hand my number one spot to anyone!”

  “But……”

  “No buts!”

Ling Jiu waved his hand. “Let’s go, I’ll take you to have your revenge today!”

Riding on the maglev airship, the three once again came to the valley.

The gloomy pool still radiated a bone-biting chill, as white mist rose over the surface of the pool.

The difference from last week was there was no beast in the valley at the moment, and the pool water sparkled like a mirror.

“We were attacked by that Blue-eyed Azure Scaled Dragon here!”

Ai Yuhe gritted her teeth, “Not only that, it also summoned a large number of of its Direbeast underlings to try to kill us!”

“So, we are here for payback today!”

Ling Jiu smiled faintly as he grabbed a boulder and tossed it into the pool.

  Boom!

The pool water was kicked three meters high by the impact, making rings of waves.

The next moment, a giant head with a single horn slowly emerged from the water as a pair of blue snake pupils stared coldly at Ling Jiu.

A cold aura and a icy murderous intent radiated from its eyes as the Blue-eyed Azure Scaled Dragon recognized the three of them.

“Ling Jiu, still the same trick, I’ll hold it in place, you’ll take the offense!”

Ai Yuhe took a deep breath as she prepared to use the Dimensional Lock. This was how they killed the Class 7 Direbeasts last week.

Unexpectedly this time around, Ling Jiu declined. “No need for that!”

As soon as his voice fell, Ling Jiu stepped forward and came to the sky above the Blue-eyed Azure Scaled Dragon, as he unleashed his Arcana Field without any hesitation.

  Whooosh!!

The invisible Arcana Field instantly enveloped a radius of 500 meters, and Ling Jiu could clearly feel that everything within this field was his to control.

With a thought, he wanted to use the power of the field to grab the Blue-eyed Azure Scaled Dragon, but it only struggled slightly before breaking free.

“It’s siad that a level 6 Arcanist’s control of his Arcana Field is a mere display and its real function is buffs. Seems like that’s true after all!”

Ling Jiu shook his head, “The Beckoning!”

  Bam!!

A terrifying suction force suddenly erupted as the Blue-eyed Azure Scaled Dragon flew up uncontrollably towards Ling Jiu.

  “Shinra Tensei!”

  Ling Jiu snapped his fingers.

  Baaaam!!

The Blue-eyed Azure Scaled Dragon instantly flew backwards before slamming into the side of a mountain, knocking down countless rocks and soil.

“The control power of the Arcana Field is indeed insignificant, but inside the field, my Gravity Arcana is gravity enhanced, and its usage is even more agile!”
