Chapter 524: Chen Mei Challenges Xu Wei To A Match
writer:Fu Zhi      update:2022-07-11 16:47
Other than stone gambling in the Lucky Cloud Pavilion, there was also another activity that people in Myanmar enjoyed and that’s watching the fight between two professional fighters in the taekwondo gym.

The gym was situated inside a four-story building next to the Lucky Cloud Pavilion.

The first floor was a restaurant that consisted of different cuisines from different countries. The second floor was the game site where everyone could bet on their favorite fighters. The third floor was the taekwondo experience center, while the fourth floor was the hot spring and swimming pool.

At eight o’clock in the morning, Xu Wei asked Ye Jiu to wake Fu Zhi up.

The air in the morning was humid, and the group of big white swans was trumpeting in the garden.

Ye Jiu pinched at Fu Zhi’s cheek and said, “Wakey-wakey! Rise and shine! Let’s go buy milk tea for me.”

Fu Zhi turned around and went back to sleep again.

“Good words never say twice.” Ye Jiu flipped Fu Zhi over and threw himself on her. “If you don’t buy me a milk tea, I will tell our mom that you’re seeing someone outside. And you went out to see him last night. That’s the reason why you came back late!”

  Fu Zhi was speechless.

She lifted her head and looked at him.

“Let’s go.” Ye Jiu snuggled against Fu Zhi. “Didn’t you like Li Nanli type of man? If you buy me milk tea, I will bring you to the brothel!”

  “Why would I go there?”

Ye Jiu cocked his head and replied, “Well, it’s kinda expensive to maintain your relationship with Li Nanli, so I suggest you change to another boyfriend. We can find a man who looks just like Li Nanli, and you can make him your new boyfriend!”

Fu Zhi did not know what to say.

After she got into the car, she looked outside through the window and fell into a deep silence. She began to wonder if it was the right decision to bring Ye Jiu here.

  —

The street around the Lucky Cloud Pavilion had been one of the busiest streets in Myanmar. It was just that there were fewer people today after the riot last night.

After they got down from the car, the first thing they saw was a big banner on top of the entrance that read, [Whoever can win ten consecutive games or successfully defeat one of our professional fighters, he or she receive a gift from the Taekwondo gym or a free supply of milk tea for half a month! If you’re in for the fight, come and join us on the third floor!]

“So this is how they get people to participate in the match?” Ye Jiu asked.

There were only two milk tea shops in this street, and the one in the building was the best one in Myanmar. Wang Rao ordered her milk tea here when she first arrived in Myanmar. As for other cuisines in the restaurant, Wang Rao told her that they had better options somewhere else.

Suddenly, Xu Wei’s eyes glowed up. She wafted her fists in the air and said excitedly, “Wow! Let’s go to the third floor. I will win the milk tea for you!”

Fu Zhi and Ye Jiu exchanged a glance. They did not know why Xu Wei was so confident that she could defeat a professional fighter, but they were already used to her erratic behavior.

After they entered the building, the waiter on the first floor led them to the third floor through a special elevator.

Not long after they left, a man wearing a black trench coat and black face mask appeared at the entrance of the building.

He had a different vibe compared to other people around him, causing the people to keep a distance from him.

He glanced across the crowd and it was only then they realized he had a pair of deep blue eyes. He then turned his head and clapped his eyes at the banner on the top of the entrance as a sinister smile crossed his face.

  —

  The third floor.

According to the rules, every participant had to change into a taekwondo uniform.

After Xu Wei paid the money, a coach came up to them. His surname was Zhou. He was not tall, his skin was tanned, and he looked fierce.

Most of the participants were visitors, but it went without saying that some of them were professionals as well.

The playing field for men and women was separated. Xu Wei was the third to go on the stage, while Fu Zhi and Ye Jiu sat in the audience seats.

Right now, there were two women fighting on the stage. They were grabbing each other’s hair as they shouted and yelled at the top of their lungs.

Ye Jiu stood up from the chair and said. “What if our mother’s opponent is too strong for her to handle? We can’t let her get beaten up.”

Besides, considering Xu Wei’s behavior, Ye Jiu was confident that she would cry until the entire building was flooded with her tears, and one of the things that Ye Jiu scared the most was a girl crying in front of him.

However, Fu Zhi was not that worried about Xu Wei as compared to Ye Jiu. She was holding a few stones in her hand that she got from god knew where and said, “Don’t worry. I will help her if something happens.”

‘Then I will pull her down from the stage and admit defeat.’

Fu Zhi had everything planned out for Xu Wei. Just when she finished speaking, something happened on the fourth floor.

Chen Mei had just finished swimming. She was now standing beside the window in her bikini and when she saw Xu Wei, who was in a taekwondo outfit on the third floor, she raised her eyebrows slightly.

She turned her body sideways. The man that her father had set her up with. It was a fifty years old man with a portly figure. People always said that there was no despair if there was no comparison. If she had not met Li Nanli before, she was more or less willing to deal with the partner in front of her.

However, she just felt annoyed by him right now.

Not only was he not good-looking, but even the social status of his family was lower than the Chen Family. Also, he had a big mouth like Wu Qi.

  Chen Mei’s patience was thinning.

“Mr. Kim,” she interrupted, “I have something else to do tonight, so I will not be joining you for dinner. Let’s do it another time.”

“When will it be then, Ms. Chen? Look, I’ve been here wasting my time to entertain you for more than half a month. You can’t just leave me hanging here like this. I’m sure you understand what your father wants as well. My wife passed away not long ago, and I……”

“Mr. Kim,” The woman interrupted before the man could finish his sentence.

“If you have the patience to wait, then wait. If you don’t,” Chen Mei lifted her hand and pointed at the 2nd floor of the Lucky Cloud Pavilion next door, “I want you to understand that you are not the only option I have.”

The 2nd floor of the Lucky Cloud Pavilion was crowded with different tycoons from across the country.

As the only daughter of the boss of the Lucky Cloud Pavilion, the status of her family outweighed her identity as a remarried woman. Even some single older men around 50 to 60 years old were still surrounded her like flies, especially that another batch of jade stones was about to come in this month and nobody knew about the quality of the jade stones better than Chen Min.

Mr. Kim worked in the jewelry industry as well. When he heard what Chen Min had said, his attitude changed and he replied with a smile and a respectful tone, “What are you talking about, Ms. Chen? Of course I’m willing to wait. I’ll be looking forward to hearing from you again, Ms. Chen.”

After that, he left through the elevator on the side.

  Chen Min scoffed.

In the meantime, the match of the girls’ group ended and a round of applause erupted from below.

The woman who had won nine in a row stood on the stage, waving at the audience. She was a new member that joined the taekwondo gym six months ago, and she participated in the match to promote the gym.

Chen Mei went downstairs and went up to Mr. Zhou, the coach of the taekwondo gym. She waved at him and said, “That woman.”

She pointed at Xu Wei. Jealousy began to bubble in her heart when she thought of how much Lu Jingqing loved Xu Wei. After all, she had not come across a good man even after she ended her marriage two years ago.

A glint of darkness crossed her eyes as she said, “Can you arrange the next match for us? I want to fight her.”

Since Chen Mei was the owner of the taekwondo gym, it went without saying that she was a professional and she held a sixth-degree black belt.

Generally, someone who had gotten a second-degree black belt was eligible to participate in international matches, a fourth-degree was considered to be a Master rank, and a fifth-degree could become an instructor.

Mr. Zhou’s expression changed. “You want to fight her in a match?”

Mr. Zhou turned and looked at Xu Wei, who was stretching her body below the stage.

No matter how he saw it, Xu Wei still looked like a punching bag to him.

Chen Mei lifted her brows and asked, “Why? Am I not allowed to fight her?”

“Of course you can, but……” Mr. Zhou paused for a moment before continuing hesitantly, “Don’t you think it’s a little bit harsh on her?”

  ‘Harsh?’

Chen Mei let out a cold smirk.

She looked down on those women who relied on men, and she also wanted to teach Xu Wei some lessons for being a coquettish woman.

Mr. Zhou nodded. “I will inform her then.”

“That’s not necessary,” Chen Mei said, “She will know about it when we go on the stage later.”

After that, she went into the dressing room to get herself changed.

Mr. Zhou wiped the sweat off his forehead and he did not know why but he felt Chen Mei did not like Xu Wei a lot.

His intuition had been very spot-on. However, as Chen Mei’s employee, it was without a question that he would be standing on Chen Mei’s side. As such, he went up to Xu Wei and asked, “Have you ever practiced taekwondo? Have you learned anything about taekwondo? Have you ever fought someone?”

The coach fired one question after another at Xu Wei and Xu Wei was stunned. It took her a few seconds to come around to her senses and shook her head. “Nope. I have never practiced taekwondo before. I’ve only ever beaten my son and the ducks that twittered in the garden.”

Mr. Zhou let out a sigh of relief.

Xu Wei was still confused. She pondered for a moment before asking, “Why do you ask?”

“Nope, nope. I just want to make sure if you are a punch…… Ahem, ahem, nothing. Just take care of yourself. You’re going up next, so be ready.”

After that, Mr. Zhou turned around and picked up a microphone.

“But……” Xu Wei still wanted to say something, but Mr. Zhou had already gone away.

Another match ended and another trainee received a milk tea voucher.

Xu Wei let out a sigh. Since Mr. Zhou was waving at her from the stage, there was nothing she could do but go up the stage.

Before her opponent appeared, Mr. Zhou suddenly waved his hand and shouted, “Hold on a second! I’ve just been informed that our participant no.3 has the honor of being selected to fight with our gym leader! Without further ado, let’s welcome our gym leader, Chen Min, Ms. Chen, with a round of applause!”

A great round of applause erupted from the crowd. Perhaps this was the first time the gym leader fought someone, all of them were excited.

“I believe that this will be an exciting match!”

After that, he got down from the stage.

In the audience seat, Fu Zhi and Ye Jiu looked at each other and they could sense something fishy.

Chen Mei went up the stage, and both of them bowed at each other before the match started.

“It’s such a surprise to see you here, Mrs. Lu. I’m supposed to go easy on you, but unfortunately, as a renowned taekwondo gym, we can’t do that. After all, it’s unfair to other participants as well.”

“So that means we have to go all out?” Xu Wei was a little nervous. When Chen Mei nodded, she stammered, “All, all right, then.”

Chen Mei entered her battle stance.

“Why must our gym leader fight with her?”

  “She looks so weak!”

“Yeah right. We should not waste our time on her!”

“This will end in a second. How is there any possibility that that woman can accept a punch from our gym leader?”

All of them were trainees in the gym, and they all idolized Chen Mei a lot.

Seeing that Xu Wei was not going to make her first move, Chen Mei narrowed her eyes and dashed straight towards her.

Fu Zhi and Ye Jiu’s expressions were grim.

Fu Zhi tossed the stones in her hands, and just when she was about to help Fu Zhi, a figure flew through the air and the stones in her hand fell to the floor.

A panicked woman’s voice reverberated throughout the entire hall. “Oops, I didn’t know you’re so weak……”

Xu Wei hastily ran forward to help Chen Mei up from the ground. However, Mr. Zhou rushed up to the stage and pushed Xu Wei aside. He stared at her warily and hissed, “Stay away from Ms. Chen!”

Everything had happened too fast. Everyone just saw that Chen Mei charged towards Xu Wei. Then, just when everyone thought Chen Mei was going to end the fight, something happened. At the last second before Chen Mei’s hand touched Xu Wei, Xu Wei dodged to one side with feline graces and lifted her arm. Seizing the opportunity while Chen Mei was stunned, she grabbed her wrist and delivered a kick into her stomach.

Her movement was so fluid and smooth that it was apparent that she had practiced martial arts before.

Chen Mei was genuinely dumbfounded. She thought Xu Wei was just a woman who took advantage of her cute face to get things her way. It was never in her wildest dream that she was a wolf in sheep’s skin!

The trainees all rushed up to the stage. Fu Zhi and Ye Jiu went on the stage as well.

  The atmosphere was tense.

Mr. Zhou was as anxious as a cat on a hot thin roof. He did not know why it would become like this. Did Xu Wei not tell him that she did not know how to fight? When he thought about the things that Xu Wei told him just now, he jerked his head around and snarled, “Liar! Didn’t you say that you’ve never practiced taekwondo before? How can you lie to me?”

Xu Wei replied, “I didn’t practice taekwondo before, but I’ve been practicing kickboxing for more than 10 years. I’m not a liar.”

Mr. Zhou was stumped. He did not know what to say at all.

The rest of the trainees glared at Xu Wei and growled, “This is just a friendly match, why are you so serious? How can you hit her so hard?”

“But……” Xu Wei scratched her head. “She’s the one who asked me to go all out. Besides, since she’s the owner of this taekwondo gym, I thought she’d be pretty good, but I didn’t expect her to be so weak……”

  ‘Holy.’

Ye Jiu exclaimed inwardly. He knew what Chen Mei was planning. She wanted to humiliate Xu Wei in front of everyone, but none of them had expected that Xu Wei had been practicing kickboxing for more than 10 years.

Not only the trainees, but even the audience in the audience seat did not expect that Xu Wei could defeat Chen Mei.

“It seems like this taekwondo gym is not that good. Initially I wanted to send my boy here to practice taekwondo since she said that she’s a sixth-degree black belt holder, but who knows he can’t even defeat a kickboxer.”

“Yeah. I think I have to reconsider as well. This taekwondo gym seems suspicious to me.”

Chen Mei heard all the conversation, and her face turned livid with rage as she had never been humiliated like this before.

After a long while, just when her trainees wanted to say something again, she stopped him and said, “Mrs. Lu is right. I worried that I might injure her, so I didn’t go all out on her. Anyway, since Mrs. Lu won the match, we should give her the prize.”

After her trainees had helped her up from the ground, she handed the voucher to her. “Please visit our taekwondo gym when you’re free, Mrs. Lu. Maybe we can spar again next time.”

“I think I will pass it,” Xu Wei waved her hand, “You’re a good person, Ms. Chen, so I don’t want to hurt you.”

After all, if something really happened to Chen Mei during their match, then she had to compensate her with money.

It was already hard enough to raise three kids, and if they still had to compensate Chen Mei with money, Xu Wei was worried that Lu Jingqing could not handle it.

Xu Wei’s face flushed when she thought of her husband.

Chen Mei did not know what to say.

On the other side, the masked man who defeated ten professional coaches in a row looked coldly at the coach writhing in pain on the ground with a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

Since there were surveillance cameras around, he could not kill anyone openly.

A round of applause erupted from the audience seat.

Matthew let out a cold smile.

  ‘A bunch of babbling fools.’

He swore in his heart that he would cut all of them into pieces and add them to his collection if he had the chance.

Then, he took the voucher and went downstairs.

  —

  Meanwhile, the airport in Myanmar.

The captains of the 6th and 7th divisions got off the plane with their teams.

All of them were wearing silver masks on their faces as they walked down the special passage. The moment they came out of the special passage, the 4th and 5th divisions as well as the local Myanmar police officers were already waiting for them outside of the airport.

Jiang Ningbei, who was also the captain of the 6th division, sent a message to Fu Zhi but she did not reply to him.

In the meantime, one of the police officers received a phone call. He walked to the corner to answer the phone and his face was stern when he came back to them.

“Captains, We just received a report that the owner of the lodge at Evergreen Street was murdered. The murderer dismembered and grinded his body with a meat grinder before burying it in the garden as fertilizer……”

The police officer frowned. Even though he had worked on many murder cases before, this was by far the most gruesome murder case he had come across. “After the initial investigation and fingerprint matching, it’s confirmed that the one who killed the owner and lived in the lodge is Matthew. According to the surveillance video, Matthew has left the lodge this morning. He has avoided all of the surveillance video, but it seems that he’s heading to the street where the Lucky Cloud Pavilion is.”

They had to admit that Matthew was indeed a highly intelligent criminal. His anti-reconnaissance ability was top notch and he was very good at covering his tracks.

“Anmisu will be transferred the day after tomorrow, but Matthew showed up today. If possible, we hope that you guys can cooperate with us in capturing him.”

The captains of the 4th and 5th divisions nodded. “There might be new casualties if he really shows up. We will now go back to get our cars. In the meantime, we need you guys to help us do something. First, we need a map. Second, we need you guys to keep an eye on the milk tea shops in Evergreen Street and near the Lucky Cloud Pavilion.

“Oh yeah, if possible, contact those owners of the milk tea shops and tell them about the situation. Send Matthew’s photo to them, and ask them to keep their guard up. If they spot any suspicious person, call us immediately.”

  —

At the same time, outside of the dressing room on the third floor.

When Xu Wei came out of the dressing room after she had changed back into her own clothes, she saw Fu Zhi and Ye Jiu were waiting for her outside.

Both of them were leaning against the wall and the sunlight that filtered through the window had cast a halo of golden around them.

Squinting her eyes, Fu Zhi studied Xu Wei incredulously.

Xu Wei’s fighting moves were fluid and smooth, very similar to those of the formally trained special forces in the army.

Leaning against the wall, Fu Zhi looked at her and asked, “Where did you learn kickboxing again?”

Xu Wei’s heart skipped a beat, and she was stumped.

She seemed rather hesitant. She hemmed and hawed for a long while before finally deciding to tell her daughter the whole story.

“When I was a kid, there was this psychic in my village. He told me that I would have a tough life and I might not be able to form a family in the future because I looked dumb and stupid. Your grandpa and grandma worried that I wouldn’t get married, so they asked the butcher to teach me some kickboxing skills. They said that they would pay someone to marry me if they had the chance in the future, and if my future husband didn’t like me and wanted to beat me up, at least I could protect myself.

“But……” Xu Wei scratched her head before continuing. “Since I didn’t have a chance to put my skills to use, the butcher asked me to help him slaughter pigs. Well, you know, we needed to make sure that we killed the pigs as quickly as possible to reduce their suffering, so I used to go all out while killing the pigs. Then, after I grew up, I met your father and eventually married him. He’s the best man I’ve ever met, so I couldn’t bring myself to beat him. Today is the first time I fought with someone after so many years, so I couldn’t control myself and……”

Fu Zhi and Ye Jiu did not know what to say.

Both of them felt relieved that Lu Jingqing had never treated Xu Wei badly.

Otherwise, he might have ended up like those pigs!

Then, Xu Wei added, “Why are you guys asking, though? Your grandpa and grandma have always told me that, as a girl, I have to learn how to fight to protect myself, so I don’t understand why you guys look so shocked. This is nothing impressive, and I’m sure there are other people who know how to fight better than me.”

“This is nothing impressive?” Ye Jiu was stumped. While they took the elevator, he couldn’t help saying, “Besides, not everyone knows how to fight, alright? Your friend, Mrs. Liu, doesn’t have any martial art skills at all.”

‘Even if she practiced martial arts, who the hell could defeat a sixth-degree black belt holder with just one hit?’

The door of the elevator opened with a ding.

Although she was her partner in crime when it came to shopping, they were honestly not that close and they seldom talked to each other on normal days.

Therefore, Xu Wei was not very sure about the things going on in the Liu Family. She waved her hand and said, “Well, we shouldn’t talk about other people behind their backs. It’s not a good habit. Who knows if she’s a boxing queen? I mean, we can’t judge a book by its cover, right?”

  Ye Jiu was speechless.

  —

In the restaurant on the first floor, Xu Wei and Ye Jiu were sitting on wooden chairs not far away.

After Fu Zhi handed the voucher to the cashier, she took a look at the menu and said, “One strawberry slushie, a cheese-topped oolong tea, and a chocolate taro milk tea. Thank you.”

The cashier smiled at her and replied, “Alright. Please wait in line here or go sit on the couch in the lounge area over there and wait a little bit. I will call you when your drinks are ready.”

Fu Zhi nodded and headed to the couch in the lounge area. No sooner had she entered her game than the hall manager of the first floor came to the milk tea shop with a printout of a wanted notice in his hands.

It was a detailed shot of the wanted person’s face, name, and the crime he had committed.

Equinox Flower was the most heinous serial murder case of the past decade. It loomed over everyone, especially the people in Myanmar, like a dark cloud. After all, Myanmar was where Matthew and Anmisu had committed most of their crimes.

“Attention! Attention!” the manager said through a microphone. After he arrived at the milk tea shop, he turned to the customers and said, “I’m sorry, but there is an emergency, so I have to inform the workers right away. Xiao Qi, Xiao Yuan, please come over here.”

Nobody could see what the manager was holding, as he had gone behind the counter of the milk tea shop.

However, a masked man waiting in line suddenly set his jaw tight.

“Take a look at this,” the manager said. “The police station said that the last location where Matthew was sighted was the Lucky Cloud Pavilion. If you guys spot any people with strange outfits or come across any suspicious individuals, don’t approach them and call the police, okay?”

  “Okay.”

The hall manager then showed the wanted notice to them before going to the western dining area to inform the workers there.

“Manager, don’t you think that guy wearing a mask is suspicious?” a waiter said as he pointed at the man wearing a mask not far away. “If my memory serves me right, I remember him having a pair of blue eyes……”

“What?!” The manager was startled, and the wanted notice nearly fell from his hand. He swallowed a few gulps of saliva instinctively and looked in the direction the waiter’s finger was pointing.

“Keep an eye on him,” he said. “And you, go look for Ms. Chen Min. You, send a message to Xiao Yuan. Tell her to stay calm. I’m going to call the police now.”

After he finished giving out orders, the hall manager turned around and went back into the office.

  —

In the meantime, inside the police station……

The sheriff put the phone down and shouted, “Attention, all officers! Go gear up now and head to the milk tea shop at the Lucky Cloud Pavilion. Matthew has been sighted, and we must not let him get away this time!”

  “Yes, sir!”

Every police officer in the police station geared up and headed out.

The sheriff went into a fast police car and called the captain of the 4th division. “We received a report that a man that looks like Matthew has been sighted in a milk tea shop on the street near the Lucky Cloud Pavilion. Please send help!”

  “Roger that.”

The captain of the 4th division turned the car around, and the captain of the 5th division asked with a frown, “What happened? Did they find Matthew?”

The captain of the 4th division nodded. “Inform our people to form a barricade at the intersection of Evergreen Street and send someone to the Lucky Cloud Pavilion.”

“There are six streets around the Lucky Cloud Pavilion, and Matthew could escape through any one of them. Besides, he’s very good at covering his tracks, not to mention that he’s a profiler. We might not be able to get him.”

“We don’t have any other choice. This concerns the reputation of the International Crimes Unit, so we have to succeed no matter what! If we don’t, the people here might laugh at us!”

  —

The police cars and the sports cars of the International Crimes Unit swarmed into the street.

The cashier of the milk tea shop raised her head and took a glance at Matthew, who was standing at the front of the line. Then, she turned to look at Fu Zhi and wondered if she should call her forward to pick up her drink or not.

“Erm, miss, your strawberry slushie……” Just as she cleared her throat and said something, Matthew lifted his head at the same time as Fu Zhi.

The heart of the cashier leaped into her throat, but she tried to make herself look as calm as possible. She put the drink on the counter, but before she could say anything, a dark-skinned hand appeared out of nowhere and snatched the drink.

Facing the cashier, Matthew shook the drink in his hand as he began to take his mask off his face.

“Hold on, sir!” the cashier shouted. “This is not your drink. This is for the lady behind you. Yours will have to wait a little longer.”

The police officer had told them to hold Matthew off, so she had poured Matthew’s milk tea into the sink.

The man ignored her and continued to take the mask off his face. His eyes were blue like the sea as he stared at her and said, “Really?”

He had the same face as the man on the wanted notice. It was just that he looked skinnier because he had not been eating for a few days straight.

  “Ma…… Matthew……”

The cashier’s eyes widened in shock. The man grabbed the rest of the milk tea on the counter and said, “Oh, sweetheart, I’m really sorry to meet you and get to know you this way, but it’s not nice to tell on your friends, don’t you think?”

The cashier’s heart skipped a beat.

A second later, as countless police officers swarmed into the building, Matthew turned around and shot at the window.

  “Ahhh!!!”

The gunshot left everyone in the building feeling confused.

Then, Matthew jumped out of the window.

“Matthew! Matthew!” The cashier shouted as she pointed at the window. “Officer, that’s Matthew!”

“Lawson, hurry up!” The sheriff ran toward the window and saw a blue sports car speeding away on the road.

“F*ck!” The sheriff punched the windowsill. He turned back to the cashier and asked, “Did he hurt you? What did Matthew take with him?”

“No, he didn’t hurt me. He took the strawberry slushie, and this is the worst thing he could do. You know what, officer? Due to the scarcity of the ingredients, this was the last cup of strawberry slushie made today!”

The sheriff was speechless, while Fu Zhi was stunned when she heard what the cashier had said.

“What did you say? That was the last strawberry slushie?”

The cashier nodded. “Yes. How about I make you something else?”

Fu Zhi did not say anything in return. Her expression changed, and she put her phone down.

She did not care if Matthew had killed somebody, set the building on fire, or broken the window. The one thing he should’ve never done was take her drink. Not to mention that that was the last strawberry slushie of the day! Did he not know that she had been wanting to drink a strawberry slushie for an entire day?

  This was unforgivable!

Fu Zhi stretched her arm and got to her feet.

Chaos ensued inside the building. Everyone was shouting, screaming, and running haphazardly for their lives.

As Ye Jiu dragged Xu Wei behind a couch, she asked, “Xiao Jiu, where’s Zhizhi going? It’s so dangerous.”

As she was talking, she tried to break free from Ye Jiu’s clutches.

‘I have to protect Zhizhi! Go, go, go, Xu Wei! You can do this!’

However, Ye Jiu did not give her the chance. He grabbed tightly the back of her collar, and she nearly choked herself to death.

“Calm down, Xiao Jiu,” Xu Wei said. “I will not go anywhere, so can you please let go? I can’t breathe!”

  —

It was not an easy task to capture Matthew, as he broke through the barricade set up by the police and crushed a few cars.

When the sheriff heard the report, he hissed in exasperation, “How could you guys fail to stop him when there is only one of him and plenty of us? Where is the International Crimes Unit? Are they not here yet?!”

The stone gambling session was around the corner. There were a lot of visitors from China and Country M, so it would affect the image of their country if they allowed Matthew to continue wreaking havoc in their country.

As the sheriff was feeling anxious, he felt a strong tug at his back and he was dragged out of his car. Then, before he could do anything, the other person had slithered into the car and slammed the door shut.

  Vroom!

The engine was startled before the sheriff snapped back to reality.

“Hey! Hey! What are you doing?!” The sheriff shouted and pulled his gun out. He squinted his eyes, and it was only then that he saw clearly who the person inside the car was.

It was a young girl. She looked youthful but she had an imposing aura about her. There was no expression on her face as she rolled the window down.

The sheriff was stunned for a few seconds. The girl in front of him had a fair, delicate face. Her phone was on the passenger seat, and it seemed like she was playing a game, as he could hear the shouts of her teammates.

“Li Wan, where the hell are you going?!”

“How could you dump us again?!”

“You’d better watch out when you go out. I might hire someone to kill you!”

“I’ll be damned if I ever play games with you again!”

The sheriff was stunned. However, he soon came back to his senses. He pointed his gun at her and shouted, “Girl, do you know that it’s a serious offense to assault a police officer? Get out of the car now!

“Sheriff,” Fu Zhi said as she stepped on the accelerator. “Didn’t you ask for help from the International Crimes Unit?”

  #

She paused for a moment before continuing, “Do you know that it’s a serious offense to prank on a police officer, let alone an organization like the International Crime Unit? As for arresting the criminal, I’m sorry but I don’t think you can even get close to him.”

‘What?! Is she looking down on me?!’

  The sheriff bristled with rage.

Even though he admitted that his driving skills were bad, and it took him a few attempts to pass the driving test, and he still could not park properly in a parking lot, he was confident that he was better than the girl in front of him.

“How dare you! Who do you think you’re to look down on me?”

Fu Zhi threw him a glance, and the sheriff was stumped.

Well, he was just trying to intimidate Fu Zhi with the gun, there was no way he was going to shoot her.

“Get out of the car, right now! What the hell are you going to do?”

  “Vroom—”

Fu Zhi paid him no mind. She stepped on the accelerator, and before the sheriff could say anything, the car sped forward with a crashing of gears.

“I’m going to get my milk tea back.”

The sheriff looked in a daze at the car that was getting smaller and smaller in his vision. By the time he came around to his senses, he cursed out loud, “F*ck!”

He paced back and forth on the road and his chest was heaving up and down heavily.

‘What the hell is wrong with her? Get her milk tea back? Is that more important than arresting a criminal? I swear to God that I will inform her country of her behavior and let her be…… Hold on a second. Did she just say milk tea?’

The sheriff thought for a while and then the scale dropped before his eyes.

‘So the strawberry slushie that Matthew took away belongs to her!’

“Come back! Stop the car!” The sheriff shouted as he stamped his feet on the ground in exasperation, “Matthew has a gun on him!”

He ran for two steps forward and then he suddenly stopped in his tracks when something came into his mind. He realized that there was no need for him to be so anxious at all. After all, Fu Zhi was not from here, so there was no way she knew how to go around the city. If she did not know how to go around the city, it was impossible for her to get to Matthew.

When the sheriff thought about it, he heaved out a sigh.

  —

Meanwhile, while Fu Zhi was controlling the steering wheel with one hand, she took her phone from the passenger seat, quit her game, and made a call to Jiang Ningbei.

There were sports cars everywhere, and the roars of the engines rang throughout the sky.

The captain of the 7th division called the captain of the 4th division, “We lost him. Matthew is heading towards Serene Street. I think he’s attempting to go to the highway through Serene Street. There is a lot of traffic on Serene Street and this is our last chance. If we can’t stop him there, he will get away.”

“Understood,” the captain of the 4th division replied, his face stern. The sapphire sports car was only 100 meters away from him. He stepped the accelerator to the bottom and charged towards the sapphire sports car.

The distance between them was getting closer and closer, and right now, they were only 60 meters apart.

Matthew noticed them through the rearview mirror and he let out a scoff. He stamped on the gas pedal and jerked the steering wheel. With the help of the inertia, he performed a beautiful drift and overtook the stream of cars on Serene Street.

It only took him a few seconds and he was already 300 to 400 meters ahead of them.

  ‘A bunch of fools.’

Matthew chided his pursuers inwardly as he looked at them through the rearview mirror. He took the strawberry slushie from the passenger seat and stuck a straw into it before taking a sip.

“F*ck!” The captain of the 4th division cursed. “We almost got him!”

“I already told you that he’s cunning and it’s not that easy to get him,” the captain of the 5th division said, “Besides, he has modified his car, so its performance is surely better than our cars.”

The expression of the captain of the 4th division lightened a bit.

“You’re right. I don’t think anyone can catch up to Matthew. Besides, there are too many cars on this street. All of them don’t know that we’re chasing a criminal and they don’t know how to cooperate with us. I think we won’t be able to get to him today. Luckily we still have one more chance the day after tomorrow, at that time……”

Before he could finish speaking, a black silhouette whistled past.

The reason he thought he saw a silhouette was that the silhouette was simply too fast. Before he could take a good look at it, it had already gone from his vision.

The captain of the 4th division was stunned. After a short while, he suddenly realized something was not right. He immediately got out of the car and jumped onto the roof of his car.

  “Holy!” He shouted.

He saw that a black police car was chasing after the sapphire sports car, and it seemed to him that the police car was about to catch up to the sports car.

He stomped and the car shook. The captain of the 5th division stuck his head out through the window and shouted, “Are you insane? You don’t have to stomp at the car even if you fail to arrest him today. Are you trying to crush me to death so that nobody would know you couldn’t get to Matthew because you’re a lousy driver?”

If it were normal times, the captain of the 4th division would surely fight back, but today was different. He pointed at the distance and said, “I didn’t know that the police officers in Myanmar are so good at driving! It seems like we’ve underestimated them. Look at that black car. Its specifications are not as good as ours, but the driver can catch up to Matthew’s car!”

  “What?!”

The captain of the 5th division got out of the car, but both of the black and sapphire sports cars were nowhere to be seen.

“Are you sure that is a Myanmar police car? Why do they still ask for our help if they could handle Matthew by themselves? This is so strange!”

The captain of the 4th division pulled his phone out and made a call to the sheriff. The moment the call was connected, he said, “Why didn’t you tell me that you have such a professional driver in your team, sheriff?”

The sheriff was stunned. He was not in a good mood after Fu Zhi took his car away. However, after he heard what the captain of the 4th division had said, the dark cloud in his heart dissipated and he said, “Of course. We have undergone a series of professional training and……”

“This is not important,” the captain of the 4th division interrupted before the sheriff could finish his sentence. “Just tell me who the driver is.”

The sheriff did not know what to say.

‘What a coincidence. I also want to know who the driver is as well.’

“Hold on a second. Let me check with the Bureau of Transportation.”

The sheriff also wanted to know who the driver was as well. Without hanging up the call, he headed straight to the Bureau of Transportation and looked at the traffic cameras.

The staff took a look at the camera footage and said, “The last three digits of the registration plate is 111.”

“Huh? Sheriff,” A police officer asked, “Isn’t that your car?”

  “Erm……”

The sheriff was dumbfounded as well. He remembered his car was taken away by a young girl, and the girl said that she was going to get her milk tea back.

He said, “My car was stolen by a girl! She said she’s going to get her milk tea back!”

  Everyone became speechless.

That being said, they did not care what her motive was as long as she could get to Matthew.

  —

At the same time, in the car.

After Jiang Ningbai had answered the call, Fu Zhi then said, “Help me to locate Matthew’s car and tell me how many cars are on the road now and how many traffic lights there are. I want to know everything. ”

Jiang Ningbei was stunned for a moment, but he soon came around to his senses. He nodded and said, “Okay. I will get to it.”

After a short while, he replied, “Matthew is on Canna Street now. There are two intersections ahead of him before he gets to the highway. The traffic light is now red for the nearest intersection and a truck is coming from the right side. As for the left side…… Matthew will arrive at the intersection in another one minute or so, and you are one intersection away from him. Right now, the traffic light for the intersection in front of you is red.”

As Jiang Ningbei was talking, he continued to observe Fu Zhi as she scorched down the street.

Although he did not know why Fu Zhi chose to help them, since she was here, there was no way Matthew could escape from them today.

“Jiang Ningbei,” Fu Zhi said, “Inform the Bureau of Transportation to change the traffic light of the intersection in front of me to green in the next 30 seconds. Then, after one minute, change both the traffic lights for the next intersection to green and red respectively.”

  “Huh??”

  Jiang Ningbei was confused.

“There is no way they will do that for us. It…… It is just……”

“You have to make them understand,” Fu Zhi interjected, “They are the one who wants to capture Matthew. We’re only here to help. If we let Matthew get away this time, it will be their problems and not ours.”

“Okay. I will talk to them.”

The intersection was crowded with plenty of cars. Everyone was well aware of when the traffic light would turn.

There were a dozen cars waiting for the traffic light to change, while cars were passing back and forth on the left side of the intersection.

The traffic light began to flash, and it started to countdown.

  “15, 14, 13……”

Just when everyone was ready to step on the gas pedal, the traffic light suddenly turned green in the 13th second and a black police car whistled by, stunning the rest of the drivers.

However, the drivers were not the only ones who were stunned. Even the members of the International Crime Unit were dumbfounded at the sudden change as well.

A member of the 4th division blinked his eyes as he turned around to his partner, “Erm, did you see what I just saw? The traffic light suddenly changed to green, and……”

“And a black police car sped by,” his partner said, “Well, it seems that we really have underestimated the police officers here.”

However, what they did not know was that the staff in the Bureau of Transportation that helped Jiang Ningbei to change the traffic light felt as if there were ants in his pants right now. After all, he did not ask for permission from his superior before helping Jiang Ningbei to change the traffic light.

“Are…… Are you sure this will work?” He asked, his voice faltering.

“Don’t worry. Matthew won’t be able to escape this time.”

  —

Through the surveillance camera, they could see that although Matthew was driving very fast, he could not shake Fu Zhi off. Fu Zhi was driving so fast that even though they clapped their eyes on her car, they would lose sight of her whenever they blinked, and the next time they saw her, she was already at the next intersection.

A minute had passed, and the staff changed the traffic light at the second intersection as instructed by Fu Zhi.

In the meantime, a truck had just arrived at the intersection. When he saw the green light, his foot stamped down on the accelerator and the truck dashed forward.

Matthew was dumbfounded when he saw the traffic light suddenly change from green to red. He was now in the middle of the intersection, and there was a truck coming straight at him from the right side.

  “D*mn it!”

He hastily jerked at the steering wheel to avoid the collision. His car skidded along the road and spun like a top for a few rounds before coming to a complete stop.

  “Vroom—”

  The truck sped by.

“Terrific!” The sheriff exclaimed, “Go! Go! Go! Now is your chance! Go get him!”

However, another police officer suddenly shouted, “Hold on a second, sheriff!”

  The sheriff frowned. “What’s wrong?”

The police officer swallowed hard and continued, “Well, although she’s good at driving, she’s just a commoner. Matthew has a gun with him, so are you sure that it’s okay for us to let her handle Matthew alone?”

The sheriff fell into silence. After he thought for a while, he asked one of his subordinates that stood beside him, “Do you think she knows how to fight?”

His subordinates sank into contemplation as he began to simulate the fight between Matthew and Fu Zhi. Matthew was tall and burly. His entire body was covered in big muscles and he was cruel at heart. Then, he looked at Fu Zhi in the video. She had short stature and she was thin.

The outcome of the fight was as clear as day. There was no way Fu Zhi could defeat Matthew. Therefore, he said, “I think Matthew doesn’t even need to use the gun. He could get rid of her in just a punch.”

  ‘D*mn it!’

The sheriff grabbed his hat and shouted, “Stop watching and let’s go! We have to protect her at all costs, and we must not let anything happen to her. Or else we won’t be able to answer to her country!”

  —

Fu Zhi was unaware that everyone was looking worriedly for her. She spun the steering wheel and turned into another intersection.

Chapter 528: The Mastermind Of Equinox Flower Was Caught – 4

Jiang Ningbei’s voice wafted into her ear clearly, “400 meters.”

Fu Zhi had driven Matthew into a corner. He had never expected that the police officers in Myanmar would be even harder to handle than the police officers in Country M!

They even changed the traffic light just to capture him!

As Matthew turned the steering wheel, he took a look at the strawberry slushie that was spilled on the passenger seat and cursed inwardly.

The third intersection was getting closer and closer, and he would get onto the highway after passing the intersection.

At that moment, through the rearview mirror.

Not far away, a black police car was overtaking a car and a truck, and ever the car went, it would cause quite some commotion.

Some of the cars made way for the police car, but some of them took out their phones and began recording the whole scene down.

Then, inside a yellow sports car that was parked at the side of the road, the driver was stunned and he immediately jerked up from the seat when he saw the black police car that whistled by.

“What are you looking at, honey?” A scantily clad woman squinted her eyes and asked, “When will we be arriving at the hotel?”

Zhuang Mo was snapped back to reality by the woman. He looked confusedly at the direction where the black police car had disappeared into and fell into contemplation.

‘How is there any possibility that the police car could reach that kind of speed with those specifications? It doesn’t make sense.’

Not only that, but Zhuang Mo felt that the driving style of the black police car resembled the psychotic driver he met at Mount Qiu Ling the other day.

“Change of plan,” Zhuang Mo patted the woman’s cheek. He pulled a bank card from his pocket and slipped it into the woman’s chest. “Be a good girl and get out of the car. I have something else to do right now, and I will give you a call when I’m free.”

“What?!” The woman shouted, disbelief accenting her voice, “Do you know where we’re right now, and you want me to get out of the car? This is an intersection!”

‘Is he not worried that I might get run by a car?’

Zhuang Mo squinted his eyes. “Are you sure you’re not getting out of the car?”

The woman was stumped, but she was not going to give up just like that. With that thought in her mind, she went nearer to Zhuang Mo and said in a coquettish manner, “Please, honey. It’s so scary here. Please don’t leave me here.”

‘Well, I already gave you a choice, so don’t blame me later.’

Zhuang Mo nodded and replied flatly, “Alright then. Sit tight. It might get a little bumpy”

“Ah? What do you mean? Ahhh!!! Hold on! Hold on! You’re going too fast! Stop the car now!”

  —

  Another three minutes had passed.

Jiang Ningbei continued to inform Fu Zhi about the location of Matthew. “Matthew will get onto the highway in another 1,500 meters.”

Fu Zhi pressed her lips thin and it seemed as if she was out of her patience.

She looked at the sapphire sports car through the windscreen, and then she saw a yellow sports car was following behind her through the rear mirror.

The people from the International Crime Unit were following closely behind the yellow sports car as they tried their best to keep up with Fu Zhi, their hearts were pumping faster and faster as they learned that Fu Zhi was going to chase up to Matthew.

After all, none of them believe that Fu Zhi could take on Matthew head-on.

  —

Plenty of things had happened on Canna Street today.

First, the traffic lights began to act up, then a stream of police cars and sports cars scorched down the street as if they were shooting the movie “Fast and Furious”.

Meanwhile, a hint of excitement rose from the bottom of Matthew’s heart when he saw the incoming police car.

‘Interesting. This is exciting! I didn’t know that they had such a good driver in their team!’

With that thought in mind, Matthew stamped on the gas pedal as he tried to pull himself away from the black police car.

They were only about 100 meters apart right now.

Fu Zhi’s expression was stern. When she noticed what Matthew was trying to do, she let out a smirk and jerked the steering all the way to one side, and stepped on the gas pedal to the end before she entered the corner, causing the engine of the car to roar like a beast.

Just when Matthew was entering the highway, he glanced at the rear mirror, but the black police car was nowhere in sight.

“Useless,” Matthew chided. He thought the driver of the black police car could at least put up some fight, but now it seemed to him that he had overestimated the driver.

He retracted his gaze from the rear mirror and looked ahead. He was about to reach the highway.

A smile broke across the man’s face, and before he could do anything, he felt a strong impact from the right, and he nearly lost control of his car.

He grabbed tightly at the steering wheel and jerked his head to the side. Then, his eyes widened in shock at what he saw.

The black police car was on his right side right now.

‘How is this possible? When did he come?’

Just when Matthew was in confusion, Fu Zhi rolled the window down.

Inside of his vision was an Asian girl with a delicate face.

She was probably wearing a dress and she had a poker face.

  Matthew gauged Fu Zhi inwardly.

Even though he did not know where she came from, he was certain that she was no match for him considering how petite she was.

In the next second, seizing the chance while Matthew was immersed in his own thoughts, Fu Zhi pressed harder on the gas pedal and turned left.

  “F*ck!”

It was only then Matthew realized what Fu Zhi was doing. He stamped on the brake hard but to no avail. He was going too fast and there was no way he could stop the collision right now.

The strong force thrust Matthew to the front, causing his head to smash into the steering wheel.

The airbag popped out and enveloped Matthew’s head.

The front of the car was dented because of the collision, but the car was still operable due to its high performance.

“D*mn it!” Matthew yelled out loud as his body screamed in pain.

He could feel that his tooth was wriggling as if it was going to fall. He took a deep breath and this was the first time in 30 years since he was born that he was humiliated in this way.

A hurricane of emotions wreaking havoc inside him.

There were no traffic cameras in this area, and the Bureau of Transportation had lost track of both cars and all of their hearts leaped into their throats.

If Fu Zhi really got killed by the mastermind of the “Equinox Flower”, it would leave a bad image on their country.

  —

There was dust everywhere in the air.

A light brown silhouette leaped down from the car before the impact.

She pressed a button on the key and the trunk opened up.

From Matthew’s viewing angle, the frail and petite little girl was walking towards him with a fire extinguisher in her hand.

She smashed the fire extinguisher on the corner of the windscreen and the entire windscreen cracked. Then, she aimed at the center of the windscreen and brought the fire extinguisher down in a mighty sweep.

  The entire windscreen had shattered.

Before Matthew could get to his gun, she had slammed the bottom of the fire extinguisher hard on his head.

  “Duang—”

For a moment, he could not hear anything and he could only see nothing but stars in his eyes.

Before he could come around from the strike, the girl’s gentle voice wafted into his ears.

“May I know where my strawberry slushie is?”

  —

At the same time, the traffic light at the intersection of Canna Street finally returned to normal.

The woman shouted at the top of her lungs, and since she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, she wrapped herself around Zhuang Mo like an octopus.

Zhuang Mo had no other choice but to stop his car at the roadside.

“Let go of me!” Zhuang Mo frowned. He looked ahead, trying to discern the black police car from the stream of vehicles but to no avail.

The black police car was gone.

When the realization hit him, he smacked his hand on the steering wheel hard.

If it were not for him to control himself, he would have already slapped the woman in her cheek.

Suddenly, his phone rang. It was from the Zheng Family.

  “Where are you now?”

Zhuang Mo pinched the center of his eyebrows and replied, “Canna Street. I’m chasing after something.”

“Alright. Take your time. I just want to inform you that don’t forget to come to The Glamor behind the Lucky Cloud Pavilion next Friday. We have invited the representatives from the Li Family for a dinner and we could use some of your help.”

  —

Meanwhile, the stream of sports cars and police cars.

The captain of the 5th division looked at the watch and said, “It has been more than 10 minutes.”

Then, he sighed and continued, “I don’t think we need to go to the highway anymore, as I’m pretty sure that Matthew would be gone by the time we reach there. As for the little girl, in a more sophisticated way of saying, she probably has already gone to heaven.”

By right, Matthew should be on the highway right now, but since the Bureau of Transport had yet gotten any visual on him, they assumed the girl had already caught up to Matthew.

This could also prove that this little girl had been born into this world before. She had seen the beauty of this world and now it’s time for her to say goodbye.

At the same time, the sheriff made a call to the China International Rescue Committee. After the call was connected, he said, “Erm, there’s this one girl from your country and her name is Fu Zhi. She’s currently pursuing a serial killer known as Matthew. However, we lost sight of her on Canna Street and we worried that she might be in trouble. Can you guys send some help?”

The staff who received the call immediately reported it to the embassy.

Fu Yuan, the ambassador of China, had just returned from his business trip. When he passed by the office and heard the name “Fu Zhi”, he stopped in his tracks.

“Fu Zhi? Which Fu Zhi are you talking about?” He asked the staff, “Does she have the same surname as me?”

The staff nodded, and it was only then Fu Yuan knew Fu Zhao’s daughter, Fu Zhi, had come to Myanmar.

He did not know why Fu Zhao did not tell him about it, but it was none of his business. After all, they would not contact each other. Whenever they talked to each other, either it was during festive seasons, or one of them needed financial help.

“Who’s Matthew and where does he come from?” Fu Yan asked again.

“He’s biracial, half Burmese and half Country M.”

“Oh well, send someone to retrieve Matthew. He’s gonna need it,” Fu Yuan said as he walked towards his office, “By the way, is Mr. Han here? Remind him to get in touch with Fu Zhi. I’m worried that Matthew might sue her for beating him up.”

  The staff was confused.

‘Matthew? He will sue Fu Zhi? Has he gone out of his mind?

  —

The first group of people that arrived at the intersection between Canna Street and the highway was the 4th division.

Two of them waited at the roadside and kept their distance from the scene. They waited for about three minutes before heading towards the designated location.

They could see a sapphire sports car and a black police car from a distance. Both of the cars had come to a complete stop on the roadside after the collision.

“What’s going on? What are you guys still waiting for? Where’s the girl? Why don’t you guys go and help her?” The captain of the 4th division grabbed the collar of his team member and shouted, “Is this what I teach you all the time?”

“But cap……” The team member stammered, “It’s not that we don’t want to help. It’s just that we don’t know what to do at all!”

The scene before their eyes was too gruesome. Instead of calling it a two-way fight, it was more appropriate to call it a one-sided annihilation. There was even a hole on the ground to show how intense the fight was.

There was this saying which went like, “When a city gate is on fire, disaster is brought to the fish in the moat.”

They were the fishes in the moat, so it went without saying that they were worried that they might get caught up in the fight.

“Useless!” The captain of the 4th division kicked him away.

“If you guys are not going in, I’m going in!” He shouted as he rolled his sleeve up.

At the same time, a weak man’s voice rang out not far away, “Help…… Help me to call the police…… I’m a murderer, I burned buildings down to ashes…… I plead guilty, please take me to jail. Please, please save me……”
