  Lu Household.

By the time Lu Jingqing arrived, Dong Cun was running Madam Lu through the properties of the anti-cancer drugs. He had already confirmed that the anti-cancer drugs Lu Chuwan had given to him were the real deal.

Lu Jingqing walked straight up to them. He ignored Dong Cun and told Madam Lu right in her face, “I won’t send Zhizhi away. As for Yumo, I’ll educate him myself. If you think you’re their grandmother and you can poke your nose in my family affairs, then I think you won’t have any issue if I beat my brother’s kids when they misbehave next time, right?”

“Don’t you dare!” Madam Lu sprang up from the couch. “Don’t you even dare think about it! If you so much as lay a single finger on them, I’ll kill myself!”

“Oh, mother, I know what you’re trying to do, but nope, it isn’t going to work this time. I know you favor my brother and his family more than me and my family, but I don’t care about it. I think you know me better than anyone else. If this kind of thing ever happens again, don’t blame me for cutting ties with you!”

The next day, the recess bell rang at 8:40 a.m. sharp.

Before their language teacher could even leave the classroom, a bunch of 7 to 8 students crowded around Fu Zhi’s desk.

“Yesterday, Xu Tongtong said in the official group chat that you were taken away by the police. Are you okay?”

“Do you know that Lu Yubai and his friends pulled Xu Tongtong into an alley yesterday night? If Director Liu hadn’t intervened at the last second, I’m certain that he would’ve beaten her to a pulp. Right now, nobody dares to talk about you!”

“Fu Zhi, how can you be so smart? Luckily, I was on your side and I went through the sample questions before the examination. It’s such a shame that you didn’t get to see the faces of those hoity-toity assh*les from Class 1 the day the result was released. It’s the best thing I’ve ever seen in my whole life, and I’ve never felt so proud of myself before! Fu Zhi, you truly are our hero!”

These few students were the ones who had participated in the competition with Fu Zhi. They were all Song Fang and Lu Yumo’s friends, and they treated her like their own sister.

Even though Fu Zhi seldom interacted with her classmates and chose to play with her phone or drink bubble tea instead, most of her classmates were beginning to warm up to her.

Zhou Zihuai and Song Fang were looking at her as well.

“The police officers are investigating the murder of Zhou Tingting.”

Fu Zhi did not tell them the whole story, but it seemed to them that she was doing fine. Song Fang then moved on to disperse the crowd of students. “Alright, let’s give Fu Zhi some space. She needs to rest.”

It was only then that the students left reluctantly and returned to their seats. They all stared at Fu Zhi’s Physics scores and felt honored to be her classmates.

When the class resumed, every teacher that entered their class would praise Fu Zhi for her achievement in the Physics competition before ending their speech with one conclusion. “Fu Zhi didn’t pay attention in class and didn’t do her homework, so how could she score full marks in the examination while you guys couldn’t do it? How come there are so many differences between you and her? Don’t you feel ashamed of yourselves?”

The students in Class 21 did not feel ashamed of themselves and continued to play their games.

After all, who was Fu Zhi? She was the one sitting on top of the mountain. Of course she was different from them.

The Math teacher continued to lament. “If you guys are like Fu Zhi, then you don’t have to do my homework anymore.”

Fu Zhi immediately raised her head the moment she heard what her teacher had said. “So that means I don’t need to do your homework anymore?”

The Math teacher was stumped. He turned to Fu Zhi and realized she was watching him with glittering eyes. It seemed to him that she had not realized it was not right to not do her homework, and he felt like he was having a heart attack.

“Ms. Fu Zhi, if you have any concerns about your assigned homework, you can come to consult me. Even if you really don’t feel like doing it, you have to force yourself to answer at least one question. You can’t just leave all the questions blank like that! It isn’t good for you!” The Math teacher said. He felt had already made a lot of compromises.

“What if your Math result got worse?”

  “Alright then.” Fu Zhi sighed.

Su Xing, who was sitting beside Fu Zhi, whispered, “Does he realize that these are double standards? I’ve been his student for three years, and you just came to this school for two months. How can he change his attitude so fast and treat you so differently, Zhizhi?”

Chapter 197: There Is No First Come, First Served When It Comes To Relationships

The Math teacher had nearly broken Su Xing’s arm when she had not handed in her homework last time.

The Math teacher’s assistant fell silent when he heard Su Xing’s comment about their Math teacher.

‘I’ve been his helper for three years, yet even I still need to do his homework, let alone you! He’s a real hypocrite!’

Fu Zhi listened to Su Xing’s rant and understood what she felt very well. Then, she said, “Well, there’s no such thing as first come, first served when it comes to relationships.”

Both Su Xing and the Math teacher’s assistant wanted to cry.

  *

Ever since Fu Zhi had crash-landed in No.1 High School two months ago, she had made several breakthroughs and brought about a few changes in the school. First, she had replaced Lu Chuwan and become the new school belle. Second, she’d roasted the netizens on the live streaming platform. Third, she had led her team to the preliminary round.

Therefore, many students would “inadvertently” walk past Class 21 during recess. Every day, Fu Zhi’s desk would be filled with heaps of love letters and chocolate.

Song Fang felt that he had to do something about it. He sent a text message to Lu Yubai and said, “Do you think they will kidnap our sister?”

“First of all, she’s my sister.”

Lu Yubai then replied immediately, “Second, if it’s just chocolate and love letters, you don’t have to inform me. Unless there’s a bank card on her desk, I don’t have to worry about her at all.”

Song Fang was left speechless. He seemed to understand his little sister on a basic level.

There was a swarm of students in the corridor outside Class 21. Some of them were shouting, while the others were whispering to each other as they pointed at Fu Zhi.

As she pinched a piece of milk candy in her hand, Fu Zhi’s eyes were glazed over with rage and she was visibly annoyed.

Just before she could do anything dramatic, Director Liu appeared. He craned his neck into the classroom and shouted, “Fu Zhi, please see me in my office!”

Fu Zhi collected all her textbooks and went out through the front door. The moment she stepped out of the classroom, all the students crowded at the door retreated to the side and made way for her.

After Fu Zhi left the classroom, the female students in her class gathered around Su Xing and handed bubble tea to her. “Can you help us give this to Fu Zhi?”

Su Xing was confused. She asked, “Why don’t you give it to her yourselves?”

“Well, you know, she has always been aloof and she seems like she doesn’t want to become our friend.”

“Yeah, and she doesn’t seem like someone who would go to the bathroom hand in hand with us.”

“She’s beautiful, and we want to give her some money to spend.”

The group of girls chirped like a bunch of birds around Su Xing, and she could see nothing but admiration on their faces as they talked.

  *

The result of the competition had exceeded everyone’s expectations. Director Liu had looked for Fu Zhi because he had something to tell her.

“You must have gotten exhausted from walking all the way here from your classroom, right? Come, come, come…… Come over here and have a seat,” Director Liu said as he pulled a chair for Fu Zhi.

Fu Zhi did not know what he was planning, but she was not going to take a seat. She leaned against the door frame with a frown on her face as she said, “Can’t you just tell me what you want to say from there?”

‘I cannot!’ Director Liu shouted inwardly.

He took a deep breath in an attempt to calm down, but it was a fruitless endeavor. He paced up and down in his office, his body shuddering slightly while beads of sweat formed on his forehead. Just as Fu Zhi thought he was going crazy, he suddenly turned to her and shouted, “Fu Zhi! It’s all thanks to you that No.1 High School has become even more famous! You are a goddamn genius!”

He was so excited that he brandished his fists in the air.

Fu Zhi did not know what to say. She took two steps back, and her hair fell over her ears.

  She seemed startled.

“The Education Bureau called us today, and do you know who they wanted to talk about? You!” Director Liu resumed pacing around his office so fast that Fu Zhi wondered if he would fly into the sky. “In the entire country, you’re the only one who scored full marks! It has been so long since our school got praised by other people.”

On his desk was Fu Zhi’s profile from when she’d studied in No.3 High School. He tried to calm down and asked, “Can you tell me what’s up with your previous grades?”

The Mysterious Heiress: Researcher In Disguise

Chapter 198: Your Grandmother In The Countryside Is Getting Married Again

Truth be told, none of them could be blamed for not trusting Fu Zhi. After all, Fu Zhi’s grades had been unsightly when she’d been studying in No.3 High School.

Fu Zhi was stunned, and something dark emerged from the depths of her gloomy eyes.

Director Liu stared at her, and it seemed to Fu Zhi that he would not give up unless she gave him an answer.

“About that……” She rubbed her brows as she replied, her face bereft of emotion, as if she was talking about something not related to her. “My previous foster family didn’t favor kids with good grades.”

Well, it was not that they did not like kids with good grades. It was just that the Zhao Family could not accept the fact that Fu Zhi, a girl from an orphanage, could get better grades than Zhao Youyou in an examination.

They had been smart in the beginning, so they had been suspicious of Fu Zhi’s identity as well. After all, there was no way the government would give them 200,000 yuan for adopting a little girl, not to mention that Fu Zhi was way older than other adoptive children.

Therefore, they had not blamed Fu Zhi and had instead directed all their rage on Zhao Youyou for being unable to score better than an orphan. However, Zhao Youyou would throw a tantrum whenever her parents scolded her, which Fu Zhi had found rather disturbing.

Since she did not care about her grades at all, she had stopped attending examinations.

Director Liu could not believe that he had heard this. “Are they……”

  ‘Are they idiots?’

However, it did not matter right now. After all, he could use Fu Zhi’s achievement in the competition to attract more students to enroll in No.1 High School. For instance, he could say that the excellent, studious environment of the school had put Fu Zhi back on the right track, or he could even say that No.1 High School had been blessed by the grace of Lord Wen Qu of Academic Study, which was why every student that enrolled in their school would be able to score excellently in examinations.

A myriad of thoughts flitted across his brain, and the scene of a swarm of students rushing to enter No.1 High School was getting clearer and clearer in his head. He turned to Fu Zhi and moved on to the main reason he had asked her to go there. “The Education Bureau and the school authorities hope that you can lead the team to the final round.

“However, your current team is not the best team yet. Besides, I’ve asked your teammates what their thoughts about the competition are. Most of them felt that the competition was too much for them to handle and wanted to quit.”

After the participants made it through to the preliminary round, as long as they were not competing on an international level, they were given the freedom to switch with other participants from the same school.

Fu Zhi froze for a moment. She raised her head from her phone and stared at the man before her eyes with a faint smile on her lips. “So who do you want to put in my team?”

“Zhou Zihuai will stay, and I’m going to put Lu Yubai in your team as well,” Director Liu said as he gripped his cup tightly. He studied Fu Zhi’s expression for a moment before adding, “As for the remaining slots, the school authorities are going to give you the freedom to pick two candidates of your preference based on the monthly Physics examination result of this month.”

“Well, I appreciate that,” Fu Zhi replied. She looked at Director Liu with an insouciant look etched on her face as she continued to draw out her vowels. “But are you sure about that? Are you sure that I will have the final say in who’s going to be in my team?”

“Of course I’m sure about that!” Director Liu answered decisively. “Your team, your call. That’s what the principal told me.”

  *

The first class after recess was Ma Mingquan’s Physics class.

When Fu Zhi returned from her trip to buy bubble tea, Ma Mingquan was speaking on the phone outside the classroom, and Fu Zhi noticed a strange expression on his face.

He stopped her from going into the classroom.

The voice coming from the other side of the line was deep and manly. “Well, thank you, Mr. Ma. I’ll be waiting for Zhizhi outside the school.”

  It was Li Nanli.

“Oh, the pleasure is mine.” After saying that, Ma Mingquan hung up the phone. He turned to Fu Zhi and said, “Your family in the countryside has requested some time off for you……”

“Huh?” Fu Zhi cocked her head and brought her brows together to signal for Ma Mingquan to continue speaking.

Ma Mingquan found her action rather cool, just like his. He felt that the connection between them had deepened, and he liked her even more.

He then cleared his throat and said, “It’s your grandmother in the countryside. She’s getting married again and she wants you to attend her wedding party.”

  Fu Zhi fell silent.

Ma Mingquan added, “By right, the school would not approve such a request. However, your brother said that your grandmother is dying and the purpose of the wedding is to drive the devil away and cure her of her illness. Therefore, he wants you to go back and see her one last time
